I’m biased
I knew I loved the Penn Slammer 4’s before I bought this one. Super smooth drag. Doesn’t feel much different from the Penn Authority imo. They’re a heavy reel, but ready for whatever you hook up on.

Spoiled up great I was worried about the reviews saying it spoled up uneven but mine worked out so well, this thing built like a tank !

Strong and reliable in the salt
Excellent, landed a prize winning false albacore at the 2024 Martha's Vineyard Derby with this bad boy. Smooth, strong, and reliable. Very happy with the reel, buying another one this season for backup.

Came in new condition. Earlier than promised. Haven’t used it yet. But I have other slammers and love them

Smooth
I have a few penn reels but i like the way this one spins. Its a little heavy but all penn reels are heavy. For the money you cant ask for a reel that is sealed and has a very smooth spin.

A surprise on its durability but still good
Everything about this reel was great for the first two times I fished with the reel. The third time, when reeling back my lure, the reel suddenly developed a continuous loud noise. Since then the noise stays. I bought Penn reels for its durability but my experience with this reel is changing my view to the Penn reels, especially reels bought here. Since the reel was bought from Amazon UK store, I wonder if Penn warranty will take care this. I will follow up after I contact Penn customer service.My local Penn service center took care the noise issue in half hour. It’s the line roller failure due to lack of grease. It’s really a minor issue knowing that the parts themselves are good.I will bump my star rating to a 4; still a solid reel
