The Bible in World History Paperback – January 1, 2017

Thank you for opening my eyes to so much I just did not get the context of. I wish you would write another book with historical references taking the message of salvation through the rest of history to the present from where this book left off. And how to apply the message to today.Wow, This book is spectacular! If I was rich I would donate it to every bible study in every church and to missionary people to give out with the bible. It is a stand alone or a companion book to the bible that lets modern people understand the history at the time and events of the bible. So if you love history you can read it stand alone.The book is well written, concise and informative. I agree with another reviewer I would like to have a set on each chapter of the bible by this author. I cannot recommend this book enough to Christian's and non Christian's alike.

This book offers a great look into the spiritual history of the entire world. It takes you through the entire bible connecting Biblical history with secular history. Offering a great balance between spiritual devotion and historical insight Stephen Leston creates a completely new paradigm for how we can view world history and Biblical history as continuously intersecting ideals. By this he opens a door to better understanding the Bible in historical context and ultimately understanding the world through Biblical and spiritual knowledge.

4 stars for being well written and very engaging. A greater understand of how and what God was doing in and with other nations around the nation of Israel as it entered the land promised, struggled in disobedience while in the land and how He moved nations in order to return them from exile. For a subject that could have taken volumes to discuss and apt to be scholarly dry, I was compelled to read cover to cover. The authors love for God and His holy word is very evident in this book.Why not 5 stars?The author puts forth the traditional views on the doctrines of Original Sin, depravity and Penal Substitution Theory, of which I highly disagree with. Also high praise for Augustine of Hippo, which would explain my disagreement with the doctrines I mentioned.These objections are minor to the overall content in the book and I would still purchase if I knew it before hand.

Very good book to read if your a history buff. I always wondered swath was going on in the world while "this or that" was going on. This book gives you a good idea of different cultures coming to power in biblical times. I will probably read this book again and again.

Just what I have wanted for year's!!

Great and easy read. Follows great with the Bible time-line

It is filled with so much history and how it relates to world history. It has insight into archaeological significance that supports the biblical stories. A must read for those who want to dig deeper, gaining a better understanding of the bible and it's relevance then and now.

If you've always wondered what was going on in the rest of the world during Bible times, here is your answer. Granted it doesn't cover Europe and has only one referance to the New World (the Maya), but it tells you what was happening outside the Bible world. It even gives a political reason why Pilot may have been willing to condem a man he know was innocent. Read it and see what I mean.

A real easy read packed full of interesting facts not only about the Bible and Israel but also about whats happening around the world. This is my second as I had to give my original to a friend who liked it.Only down side is that the pages start to fall out with use. Pity they cant find a better binder.

Bought for a friend she is very pleased with it she said it is one of the best books she has read
