Basher Science: Extreme Physics

My 8 year old son loves this series. He has Chemistry and Physics and rereads chapters all the time. This book explains science in terms that most 3rd and 4th graders can understand and in a way that keeps their interest. I have also learned a fact or two. They are very good converstation starters. Who would have thought that I would be discussing Brownian Motion with my 3rd grader while I was making coffee one morning! Definitely High-Interest books.

My daughter has almost all of the Basher books, and they are all wonderful. This is the newest acquisition and she loves it just as much. This series makes understanding complex maths and science concepts achievable for quite young kids, and I can credit Basher for the lively discussion of vector dynamics with my 9-yo while watching Mythbusters recently. Highly recommended for anyone who would like to nurture the super-cool nerd in their kids.

An excellent resource for gaining conceptual understanding of the fundamentals of Physics. Do not expect example formulae and problem sets. This work is designed to stimulate interest and answer basic questions.

My son is a voracious reader. We got him 7 of the Basher Science books for his 8th birthday in late March. He had finished them all by the end of April and has picked them back up again to reread. (2nd grade, reading at a U-level) He won't touch a fiction book unless forced, but if it is about science or technology he can't put it down. Just enough pictures to keep him from feeling intimidated by the text, perfect silliness level to keep him engaged, and more real science facts than he could absorb the first time through.

Extreme Physics is half the length of the regular Physics book and has some character overlap, which is a little disappointing, but the original characters are spot on. It takes a huge leap in explaining things like quantum mechanics and Schrödinger's Cat and more importantly why we might want to think about these things. In a STEM (or STEAM) world it's more and more important to get kids to the edge of science and then see what they can run with, this makes the introduction fun and inspiring, love having this book in our collection(even if it is quite a bit shorter than I would like!).

We bought this for my grandson as part of his birthday gift. He had asked for this one after we had given him the Physics. He absolutely loves these Basher books as does his sister. We will continue to buy them to put with Birthday, Easter, and Christmas gifts.

Proton, electron, neutron, nucleus, enzyme, and many more unfamiliar terms. However, with cute, colorful illustrations, I felt that I want to get to know them more. This book is very approachable.

it would be nice if it came with poster but i dont care as im the bigest basher fan ever!!!!!!!!!!!

Great way to teach kids

Basher books are great. Our 8 yr old has been going through all these and loves to read these books.
