Horizontal Dock for 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display by Henge Docks

Dock looks and feels great. Had an issue with my first one. It faulted out. Henge replaced it after i sent it in and went about a week to a week and a half without the dock. Occasionally i need to pull the power from the dock. (which is good with many electronics) All in all this dock is great. Few bugs, but all worked out in the end. Good customer service when i needed assistance.

The dock does not connect to the macbook seamlessly, it requires pressure on top of macbook for the connectors to enter fully and finish the docking process, otherwise the process resets and the connectors retract leaving you with a very expensive metal stand. This kind of docking process caused my 15'' macbook pro to distort leaving it unable to stand firm on flat surfaces, it keeps leaning backwards to sit on top of two rubber stands in the back instead of all 4.Now, after about 2 months of sitting on the dock, I took the macbook out of it and cannot get it back in no matter what I do, the docking process simply resets every time.Not to mention the tedious process of even managing to send an email to their customer service.DO NOT BUY!Marko Borovac

Amazing docking station that is simply the best. Worth the price. The dock works automatically and instantly connects up my Macbook to all the peripherals I need - multiple USB, ethernet, external display. Really glad I bought it. Very neat and tidy and it's design is clearly worth it.

Very pleased with the horizontal dock. This dock has completely transformed my workspace and has made transporting my laptop a breeze. I've had no problems with the auto docking or connections and have been very impressed by how smoothly the dock works. Highly recommend.

First Henge Docks is very slow to respond to support requests. Second my Horizontal Dock for my 15inch MacBook pro is now unusable for me as the display port stopped working. This is my second Horizontal Dock as the first was replaced under warranty that at first they surprisingly honored. However, the second dock also recently stopped working due to a similar malfunction as the first with the USB and thunderbolt display port on one side not working. My current dock was replaced as a brand new unit in November 2017 and already the Thunderbolt port is not working making it unusable for me. This unit has not been moved around other than shipping and unpacking, has been connected to a CyberPower UPS, and barely has any dust on it. It should not be giving me problems only 8-9 months after receiving it, and in fact due to a move I had around the time of replacement has only been in use since the end of March 2018...so essentially my current dock has only been used less than 6 months. The representative from Henge Docks who responded to me about this issue did not offer any repair or replacement options only that (to paraphrase) "it might be a good time to update both your dock and your MacBook Pro" and that if I wanted another dock I would have to repurchase. Its been over three days since I replied to that email and have received no further response from this company and when I logged into their site my ticket was closed. I'm a U.S. Air Force military member and its not in my budget to repurchase items like this on a regular bases, especially since its an item that has literally no "wear and tear." In fact I've only undocked my MacBook from this dock only a few times and appearance wise it still looks brand new. Too bad it didn't function that way or that this company would stand by its products and warranty. My advice look for another docking solution as I've already been through two of their docks in under two years and all you will ultimately be left with is a hole in your wallet and a lot of frustration and the inability to talk with a real person.

In a space where there extremely limited options, on the surface this checks all of the boxes you could want from a dock:1. Ease of Setup and Use - It really is plug and play.2. The number of inputs - You can leave everything plugged into this dock and push a single button to dock and undock it.I received this dock approximately 5 months ago, and truth be told everything was great from the beginning. It gave me absolutely everything I wanted, the ability to use my dock in a desk environment with an external monitor, hard drive, and all other peripherals connected. At that point I would have given the dock 5 stars, it was great!However, in the last week the dock started to show issues with the Thunderbolt port. First, it disconnected from my external monitor... strange, I thought, so I went through process of restarting things (the monitor, my Macbook pro, everything that was connected) and it was able to connect to my monitor. Fast Forward another two days, and the dock disconnects from my monitor yet again. This time I'm unable to revive it, no matter what I try. Could it be the cable? Could it be my computer? I tested both of those items individually, and neither of those were the issue, the issue was 100% unequivocally the dock. I reached out to customer service, and after waiting 2 days, I finally recieived a response asking me to power cycle the dock, and a few other minor steps, which I did, to no avail. I e-mailed support back, 2 days later a response that in a nutshell said, Sorry we can't help you, but we can give you 20% off another one!This is an extremely expensive piece of machinery, and while I understand failure happens with electronics, it's the support that makes the difference between a good company and a bad company. Henge definitely falls into the BAD category.

I have had three of these docks now. As other reviewers have mentioned this dock has some serious issues. The left side of the dock has failed on three different docks and now on the last one, they will not issue a replacement. They have offered to have my buy a replacement. I have not had one of their docks complete a year of service without failure. I would recommend that you seriously consider another product.
