Man's War Against Nature (Green Ideas) Review: This should be read by everyone who wants to save the plant. It is very enlightening avery short book 90 pages, so easily read in a hour. It seems to have began with the 2nd W/W when DD T was the killer of choice, now since then. Pesticide have got to the millions! The frightening thing is that as today all of them are leaching into water, and hence into us! Review: Lettura molto interessante, per nulla a lieto fine, non è sempre facile da seguire e a volte può essere un attimo pesante, ma fa riflettere sul futuro e come trattiamo la natura.

I was excited by the title, "Man's War Against Nature," which suggested a more broad, philosophical take on environmental issues but found the book focuses on pesticides in a very technical sense. The book is over 80 pages long but I feel it could be summed up in just a few sentences (pesticides are bad, unpredictable, etc) unless you are very, very interested in the nitty gritty of pesticides. And since the book focuses on events in the 50s, there is no real sense of where we have gone since that time.

Written by Rachel Carson, a marine biologist whose 1962 book, "Silent Spring" described how man-made pesticides were destroying wildlife and created a world of polluted steams and silent songbirds. In just 90 pages, she captures the essence of her findings that brought nature conservation into public consciousness and brought significant changes to the environmental laws that are helping to bring peace to nature, and making nature conservation a mainstream concern.
