Perfect oil for older marine diesel engines
Most mechanics do not recommend the newer Low Emissions (LE) multi=grade oils in older marine diesels like the Perkins range 4 (pre-1990s). Rather they recommend the straight weight diesel oils that have additive packages that are better for these engines, particularly ones with flat tappets. The Rotella has been a consistent staple that has performed well with no oil burning on Perkins Range 4 N/A engines with over 4600 hours. It used to be readily available at Walmart for a very reasonable price but no more. I have been purchasing it from Amazon for the last couple years at what is still a very reasonable price and will keep doing so as long as I can. I used to use Delo 100 30W but only the 40W is available now. Delo 400 30W is generally available but more expensive.

I like the Rotella 30wt conventional oil for my older Kubota tractor, purrs like kitten! Also works great in lawn equipment requiring 30wt oil. Great value for good price.

Packaging leaking
Rotella T1 SAE 30 arrived leaking. Probably lost 1/2 cup. Poor packaging. Good product just poor service.

PERFECT for Kohler M18 engine, getting hard to find straight weight oil in stores.
Very pleased to find this straight 30 weight oil at such a great price! Much lower cost than Briggs & Stratton 30w oil.This spec is recommended for my Kohler Magnum 18 hp engine. Perfect for lawnmowers & 4 stroke small engines.It's getting hard to find SAE 30 weight oil in stores... none of my local sources had it, so I ordered from Amazon.

Good for air-cooled Volkswagens
Modern oil is not adequate for old air-cooled VW motors. Rotella diesel motor oil is. Rotella comes in recommended 30 weight, and also has ZDDP in it to protect the cam shaft surfaces of VW motors. Valvoline VR1 Racing Oil 30 weight or Royal Purple 30 weight is certainly good oil for VW air-cooled motors too. But Rotella 30 weight costs considerably less than VR1 or Royal Purple.
