I was very excited on receiving this product. Beautiful packaging and a nice purple hue to the cacao powder. I have tried probably twenty types of cacao powder over the years and this looked very promising. I make a cocoa for my morning drink instead of coffee or tea as I feel those agitate my nerves. I am always able to drink the cocoa on an empty stomach no problem. For some reason this cacao powder makes my stomach hurt and I simply don't feel good like I normally would after a cup of hot cacao. I am not able to return the product unfortunately.Update. Tried it again a week later and it feels like mini razor blades in my stomach and kidneys. It probably has high levels of cadmium as no cacao powderhas done this.

(This is to review the culinary grade matcha)I'm searching for a culinary grade matcha sold by Amazon that would give me the bright green color for baking at reasonable price. So far, Zen Spirit > Eco Heed > Jade Leaf > Kyoto Dew. All of them are culinary grade trial size. Therefore, I'm happy with this product. Yes, you can get cheaper ones at local Asian markets and still taste the green tea flavor (more on the bitterness side tho). But the trade-off is the dull green color and looks more like mud while mixing with water. If your sole purpose is to make Green Tea / Matcha frappe with overloaded milk and sugar, then, go for the cheaper ones. Don't waste this carefully prepared matcha.(Update: I took a quick photo of this matcha compared to the local store bought "green tea powder" which I use generously for the who-care-the-flavor-and-color-is smoothie. You can easily tell why I'm particar about this matcha for dessert use. They're all green(?!), but they're seriously different.)

The product is good, beautiful green color, but boy, I need to pay better detail to the description! This is a small bag, in fact, it is more like a packet. At 1tsp serving size maybe I will get 5 out of it? Wish there was a pic of a person holding the product.

I’ve been using cacao powder for years in drinks, homemade ice cream, hot chocolate, on yogurt, cooking, etc, and love it for the flavor. The fact that something seemingly so decadent and rich is actually very good for you is a plus. I put it in my coffee for an extra energy boost.This is the first time I tried the Zen Spirit brand, but it won’t be the last. I had small amount left of my previous brand so compared the flavor. Zen Spirit is noticeably more flavorful and rich. It dissolves well. Everything I’ve read and researched about this company indicates that this pure, well-sourced and carefully processed.

I have tried many different cacao powders as I use them daily in my smoothies, desserts, drinks, homemade protein bars, etc. This cacao powder is one of my favorites! You can tell by looking at the color that it is a good quality. The taste is not too overpowering like other brands I have tried. I do a simple chocolate smoothie with my kids and I as follows: 1 frozen banana, 1/4 c frozen cauliflower (cannot taste- makes for thick and nutritious smoothies), 3 tbsp Zen Cacao powder, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp hemp seeds, 2 tbsp peanut butter, and 1/2 c unsweetened almond milk. And on top whatever you’d like. I usually do unsweetened coconut flakes and cacao nibs. It’s so easy and so good. The cacao is mild tasting and you can tweak it by adding more or less to your liking. One thing I do not like about it is the sealing won’t close very well, so I have to put a chip clip bag on top. Not the biggest deal, but still something to note. I will definitely be purchasing more in the future.

Disappointing should specific how big the package actually is. Very good tasting but Not worth the $10 this picture is the size comparison to a freaking spoon.....

Matcha lattes are by far one of my favorite beverages and this product delivers. Vibrant green in color and packed with flavor, I absolutely will purchase again. It's just SO good and part of my daily routine!Matcha Latte:1tsp matcha3 tsp hot waterWHISK THOROUGHLY (no clumps!)Add steamed milk to taste (I use almond milk)Add sugar to tasteSprinkle matcha over the top*You can also make this iced by adding cold milk with ice instead of steaming it first.*Sometimes I add a few drops of vanilla extract as well, enhancing the flavor - give it a try!

Possible nutritional benefits aside, cacao is very similar to regular cocoa powder in flavor and use. Slightly different colors in powder form (cacao is on the right), but the same smooth texture. Very similar brownies were the result of identical recipes baked at the same time (cacao is on the top). Cacao seems to have a more "real" chocolate flavor which I preferred. The rest of the family's opinion was split. This is a good product that I will buy again. I think my next project will be homemade hot chocolate!
