does the mattress have a removable cover?

Yes it does. With my experience of removing it to wash. It was very hard to put back on.

Can it be used daily as a permanent bed?

Yes it could be , maybe more for a child. Comfortable for guest but not sure about daily use.

Can bed be folded up with sheets on it? I need to use it for several nights in a row. Stored during day.

No!! You cannot! Because the mattress needs to be removed from the top of the bed and put at the bottom of the bed to fold it up. The sheets fall off when you remove the mattress from the bed.
