Q: Does anyone have ESXi running on this?

Yes, this board runs ESXi 6 flawlessly with the nics supported natively unlike with ESXi 5. I'm running pfSense, Server 2012 R2, guacamole, and powerchute with 16 gigs of ECC ram at under 75% utilization. Don't believe you'll find 16gb ECC SoDimm modules to go up to 64 gigs with this board - I'm using Micron model MT18KSF1G72HZ-1G6E2ZF 8gb ECC modules which are readily available so 32gb is doable if you need it. Best thing about this board for me is the AES-NI/CryptoAssist because it makes OpenVPN run seemingly at wire speed in pfSense - so if you're making a firewall this is a great board with pfSense.

Q: Are new boards shipping with the fix for the intel c2000 series clock bug already applied or will i have to rma this as soon as i buy it?

No. There will be no fix given that the Intel Atom C3000 will be available in 2017. I would recommend the RMA route. This is an great motherboard minus the process flaw. Sigh.

Q: Is the heatsink enough to keep CPU cool under heavy load? Is the chassis responsible for creating enough airflow?

Chassis with decent airflow would be able to allow the passive heatsink to keep the CPU cool under heavy load.

Q: msata connector on motherboard?
