Sweet Gum Ball Picker Upper Wizard

I previously reviewed this very negatively. My husband tried it out, I didn't, and he said all the things I said in the review. And, they were true. However, he was trying to pick up sweetgum balls in the driveway where they had been run over and flattened. It DOES NOT keep them in the basket. But, I tried it this morning out on the lawn under one of our trees, and it did the job and did it well. Yes, one pops out now and then, it can be picked up again easily. So, the long and short of it is, if the balls are still round, it does a great job. Just don't expect it to pick up flat ones and keep them in the basket. So, my apologies for the negativity earlier.My only negative feedback would be the lack of response from the seller when I wrote to him and voiced these complaints. I wrote twice and never received an answer or a comment or anything either time. The ad plainly says that this item was eligible for return or replacement, which at the time returning is what I wanted to do, but nothing from the seller, and sure no help from Amazon. They just said it wasn't eligible for return. Why didn't it say that on the write up for the product then? I would have given more thought to spending over $90 had I known I couldn't return it if it didn't perform as expected.I think this is a real detriment to Amazon's customer service. No chat, no e-mail, no phone no., no NOTHING!!!

If you have lots of gum balls to pick up, don't waste your money on this piece of junk. What is the most effective method of picking up a lot of gum balls? A simple lawn rake. This item comes in two pieces--the handle and the ball. Therefore, it is a really tall package when it arrives. Due to the size of the package I had to pay $28 to return it for a refund. The vendor did give a full refund, so it cost me $28 to try this piece of junk wire. Save your money and just buy a cheap lawn rake. It will do a better job. This was my worst ever purchase from Amazon.

I was pretty amazed at how well this simple gather worked. Took less than a minute to assemble, and I was off and running. I used it on the grass, stone driveway, and paved driveway — easily picked up all of the sweet gum balls quickly! It does fill up fast — we have three sweet gums on the property, and they drop a lot. But the included 5 gallon bucket attachment to empty the device works really well.Highly recommended to anyone that knows how difficult it is to clean those little buggers up!

Finally found a product to pick up the sugar gum drops from my two trees in my front yard. These sugar gum drops were EVERYWHERE! This tool picks them up instantly and saves me a throbbing back and time. It works like a vacuum for any small unwanted items in your yard. Sometimes I do go over a spot twice but once you get a few items inside the ball, it picks up wonderfully. Like I said, it saves time, easy to use and won’t hurt your back!

I have one walnut tree in my yard and about five in the neighbors so there are nutsall over. It was kind of fun watching the squirrels collecting and burying them, forabout a month. Then you have a million little mounds and holes in your yard.I bought this "ball/nut" wizard with fingers crossed it would work on walnuts.It worked great and it was awesome. I "roller" up about three 5-gallon pailsand my 10 year old grandson got home from school and wanted to give it a try.With a little downward pressure it will pick up any size of nuts on the first pass.Some of the nuts that got ran-over by the lawn mower and press into the groundmay require a couple passes, maybe in a different direction.I attached the wire "cage opener" to a bucket and just press the cage over the pailand it empties itself.I'd recommend this item to anyone who has any type of nuts falling in their back yard!!

I have been so frustrated with my gumball trees and even looked into removal. With hesitation I invested $79 and was hopeful but skeptical. It has made a huge difference that I cannot put into words. I actually like going out there every day and scooping them up. In fact I liked it so much I decided to buy one for my son and was shocked that the already high price increased by $8. I 've only had this 10 days!!! How high will it go????? I think a great price would be around $20 -maybe 40 on the upper end. They need some competition here because it is good but overvalued.

I was amazed at how well this picks up. This thing is quite heavy and after assembling it I placed it on the ground and rolled it to check its motion and was thrilled that its own weight was sufficient to pick up the walnuts. It is difficult for me to empty. They supply a device which is supposed to attach to the rim of a bucket to aid in emptying but I can't get it to stay put. It does help with emptying if you can get it to stay on the bucket. At some point I will have to figure out how to attach it securely to a bucket or box then it will be perfect.

This past year has been the worst attack of falling gum balls we have experienced in years. My neighbors tree have been bombing us all year. This Gum Ball Picker has been a welcome relief! We just roll the yard and empty the unit in trash. Much less work than hand picking this darn things.
