I don't know about you but when I see the words "scraps of leather" for sale, I always think of tiny pieces so well picked over, that it is hard to even make a few keyrings out of them. NOT SO here! I was so delighted to be opening up big piece after big piece of very good leather indeed. They even smell like proper leather should do.All the pieces are about 1mm thick and very soft. I am guessing from the thickness, quality and size of these "offcuts", that they need very large pieces of leather to make furniture with? So what is too small for them to use, is still big enough to make even some clothes from if you get a little creative.The colours were mainly grays and browns in what I got. I also got one piece that was about 7" x 7". This was by far the smallest piece and yet very useful as it was about 2mm thick and a bit stiff. About half way between clothes leather and horse's leatherwork leather. This piece could probably be used even for tooling.All the leather is smooth and polished, not with a "pimply" surface like leather from Eastern countries. I do not know for sure, but they seem to be the quality you would expect from American, British or German leather. Some defects had been marked out on the pieces, but on all of mine they were very minor defects and also they were all on a cut edge. So even if you did not want to use them, you would lose almost no leather.I was nervous because of so many bad reviews I read about other leather suppliers on Amazon. However these seemed to have good reviews, so I made a trial purchase. I was so pleased at what came, that I immediately went and bought more from them. I will not be using anyone else from now on, not at this quality for this price!

Nice size peaces, bad color, needs more colors.

Smelled pretty strong of tanning solution but has dissipated after airing out for a couple of weeks on a hanger. Great size scraps and they mostly match - even the one dark piece I plan to use in my project. The leather seems pretty good too. I will buy again because of the amount you get for the money. Who cares if I have to air some of it out. Great deal for small leather projects!

I have only ordered from this particular seller once so I don't know if I got lucky, but the selection of pieces I got were great. There were at least 4 pieces that were larger than I was even expecting, lots of medium sized ones and a few pieces of odds and ends, and nothing stringy. All the pieces were odd shapes (as I expected) but none of them had any defects and were really beautiful, thick and soft pieces of leather. None of them had a bad tanning chemical smell, in fact they were actually very pleasant-smelling. I have gotten some leather in the past I've had to air-out before working with. The colors were mostly black, tan and brown. A little bit of dark blue. I got well enough larger pieces to make everything I was intending to make (a pair of gauntlets) and plenty more. I do all my leatherworking by hand and these pieces were thick but easy to sew, providing you have the correct tools. You're not going to be able to just jam a needle through, you will need to punch holes to do it. The pieces I used were thick but buttery soft and easy to work with. I made several leather pouches and belt-bags as well. All of the pieces were very strong yet soft and pliable, great for straps or making laces for lashing pieces together. I had so much left over I made a custom dog collar and was still trying to come up with how to use the rest.

I received 2 very large pieces of baby blue alligator skin and a few very small and dirty regular leather pieces that look added just to make weight. The other pieces should have really been thrown in the trash.I had hoped this would have been some nice pieces to practice on, but it was not as advertised. It should have been noted that exotics could potentially be included in the mix either in the description or images, so this was returned.If I was trying to make baby blue alligator skin a**-less chaps, this would have been the score of the century, but I'm not planing to make those anytime soon.

I love the leather i get from Memory Cross. I'm certainly not a leather worker by trade or anything, but I do fine wood working and like to incorporate leather into pieces i make at times. I use various tooling and stamping techniques, sewing and binding and I get lots of great looking, solid quality pieces at a super good price from them. These are, I believe, scraps from the automotive industry so they are varying in size, shape, color, thickness and texture but always dependable and workable. This isn't the first shipment i have gotten from Memory Cross/Amazon and definitely wont be the last. this is for hobbyists, make no mistake. If you are looking to produce leather goods for sale or profit, and need hides or half hides, you would likely be buying from a leather production facility at a greatly increased cost.

I wasn't sure what exactly 2 lbs of leather scraps would be, but I'm thrilled with what came! Black and brown seem pretty universal, and the green is something I definitely need (that I didn't know I needed). Pen set among pieces for size reference. All the pieces are thin, malleable, and soft. No "questionable/crappy/unusable" edges/chunks.
