Perfect for wary Mallards!
The media could not be loaded. I was having trouble getting some wary local Mallards to decoy in this small flooded island. I purchased this jerk spreader & turned the island into my favorite Mallard honey hole! The Mallards try to land right on top of it, with no calling. It puts perfect ripples in flat water. A west wind blew all the water out of island so set this up in the channel next to the island, which has a strong current & wind, didnt even use the jerk string still worked great. I clipped 4 super magnum drake mallards to it & always leave them on. I ordered another spreader after using this 8 times in 2 weeks with no other decoys! It sets up very fast. I like the kite string so far because the handle floats & fits in my waders pocket. I was going to attempt making my own with pvc but glad i didnt, the tent poles fold up so small & lite its sweet!

Must have on calm days
Works great for giving motion to the spread on calm days. Easy to set up and store when done.

Just buy it already!!
When I first saw this I was very skeptical thinking it was just another usless product but boy was I wrong!!Great product!!! Living in New Mexico by the time the ducks migrate down here they have seen and heard everything. I used this on opening day with two feeders a swimmer and one skimmer and it was causing the birds to come in for a double take and hitting the hole hard!! Easy to set up and to pack in and out. Only issue i had was the jerk line that is provided is nothing more then kite string luckily I had some 550 cord laying around to use. I would recommend using a little bit longer shock cord for the anchor. I would definitely recommend this product as I just ordered a second one!!

movement
movement is a must in the decoy spread. changed out string before using. to light and will break at the wrong time. need to get a weight, not included. after that, it really helps move the decoys.

Great alternative to the traditional Jerk String, well made and works really nicely
I really like this setup. It changes the old string of decoys in a line to a small circle type group of 4. Also don't see why you couldn't use less then the available 4 decoy connection points if you have warry birds on your hands. Its well made. Setup and take down are simple. Also you can leave your decoys on the unit which I like. Several club members also purchased this and they too love this unit. You will need the anchor off your old setup but everything else comes with. Go ahead and buy this you wont regret it.

Overall review
This product looks so much better than a strait line jerk rig. Only downfalls being that it doesn’t come with a weight like most jerk rigs so you have to buy a weight which raises overall cost of the product so it is ready to use verses a traditional jerk rig with weight already included, and the product itself is Double the cost of most traditional jerk rigs. If you are looking to help your decoy spread this is a great option but wait till it’s on sale to buy it. Can’t review durability yet but the construction is solid.

Quality Product
The media could not be loaded. I took the spreader and jerk system out the other day to try it out before the season opens. The materials are quality and I bought a 1.5 lb folding grapnel anchor which seemed to work well.My only concern is that the line from the rig to the operator seems to get tangled with the decoys. I doubt it will be a major issue. I will update the review if it becomes an issue during real application.

Effectiveness over value?
I used this motion spreader this season and was definitely impressed after a couple hunts. However as the season progressed the strings began to snap in cold weather and I can definitely see a case where the flimsy plastic handle would as well. Next season I will try it again but change to a higher quality string and handle. The effort to pull this rig to get adequate movement is also more than the normal jerk rig (not sure if it’s the bungee cord or handle string). All in all you get good natural motion, but you can definitely see where corners were cut to save money which contradicts the selling point.
