Cardo Freecom 4X
Best purchase and favorite motorcycle 'accessory'. People complain about how difficult these are to install, but the truth it, you're just a little slow. These took me about 10 minutes to install for the first time, including the removal of the padding in my helmet, the installation of the cardo, the wiring, and reinstallation of my helmet padding. There are many youtube videos that you can watch if you're confused, but it is really self-explanatory. The speakers are great and very loud, and will outstand very windy conditions on the highway at 75% volume. The audio is great, though the bass is a little weak since the speakers can only be so large for these helmets. Worth the money. Concerning communication with other cardo units, the connection process is simple. Just hold the pairing button with your other buddy, and once you hear "rider A pairing" and then "rider A ready", just click the pairing button again and you're all set. You can do it through the app, but it's a lot easier to just pair with the buttons. You can adjust how loud you want your music to be with how loud you want other units to be, so that way the talking isn't as loud as your music, or your music isn't as loud as other units. Very good.

Pretty impressed
A little better than my 10 year old Sena. The sound quality is 50% better. I didn't really think I would use the voice commands, but now that is just about all I use. If I had a complaint it would be having to go through the pairing process, every time I wanted to connect to other riders still using the Sena systems (SMH10R). I was told it wouldn't work at all, but it connects right up and works well. The problem is, once the connection is broken, by powering off or getting out of range, I have to go through the pairing process again. Maybe my riding partners will eventually switch over.

Works Great
Ordered the Freecom 4X duo for my family weekend rides. Checking them out after delivery, we found 1 speaker did not make any sound unless you bent the wire on the speaker pigtail at the plug. Contacted Cardo support and after further testing by plugging the speakers into my phone, it was deemed that the speakers needed replacing under the warranty. It only took a few hours to get to this point and we are waiting for the replacement speakers. I will try to complete this review once we have received the replacement and took them out for a ride. Replacement was received in a timely manner. After using these on a few rides, we are pleased with them. The audio sounds better with ear plugs for some strange reason.

Great device, sounds great, looks great.
I love this product. I used to do the airpods under the helmet and it was a pain in the ass every time I took the helmet off. Sound quality is nice, only thing is that the treble can get pretty high when turning the volume up, I would recommend wearing earplugs while wearing your helmet. Installation was pretty easy, took me maybe about 15 minutes without instructions; pretty easy if you use common sense. The speakers fit perfectly in my Shoei RF-Sr, as they have cut outs that perfectly fit the 40mm JBL speakers. It's also pretty comfortable so long as the wiring is done properly. My phone connects to the headset upon start up every time and there haven't been any hiccups with connectivity. The quality of the device itself is nice too; the latch that hooks onto the lip of the helmet is thick and sturdy, the actual device that powers everything is sturdy and stays on the connecting piece really well so I never have to worry about it falling off while riding. There's also the mesh tech for when you're riding in a group, but I haven't been able to use that. The only complaint I have about it is when using "hey, siri", i have to say it a couple of times. It might be me having to use my big boy voice or it might be the placement of the mic inside the helmet. Either way, it's still a great and convenient piece of tech to own if you're a daily rider.

Don't waste your time with this Freecom 4X headset - Returned Them!
First a little info. I had a pair of Cardo Scala Rider G4 headsets before the purchase of the Freecom 4X. The G4 headset was 12 years old and worked but did not stay charged, but they never stopped working properly. The sound quality was much better than the new JBL speakers. I thought the new pair of headsets would work great on our 2 new Goldwings, a 2018 and a 2021 model. I was wrong! It was difficult to pair them with the bikes and if you did get them paired, you would need to re-pair them when shutting off the motorcycle and restarting. Never could get the music on the motorcycle to play through the headsets without sounding tinny and low volume. The Bluetooth pairing on the headsets was impossible to figure out which device, phone or motorcycle was paired to which Bluetooth channel. I tried for almost a month trying every combination possible to make them work. Never got them to work satisfactorily. If you think the documentation would give a full description of each function and how it worked, think again. The documentation was written to be understood by people of so many different languages that it was not sufficient in English. Now on to the main reason we purchased the Freecom 4X headsets in the first place. They are mainly used for the intercom function to communicate from bike to bike when riding. Where do I start on the problems we had. First the sound quality was very poor and we had a hard time understanding what the other person was saying. They would pick up wind noise so much you could not hear what the other person was saying and the loud wind sound would eventually give you a headache. The auto-volume was either too loud or too quiet. Review: the buttons were confusing and had too many functions and very poor marking on what they did. They did stay connected and the range was fine. The LED lights on the headsets were hard to see in sunlight. Another annoying item with the intercom was when you were sitting side by side on the bikes, say at a light, there was a big delay from what the person said and when it came through the headset. Kind of like an echo. This did not happen on the Scala Rider G4 headsets. I know these are new headsets, but I never thought my 12 year old headsets would be better then the Freecom 4X. Sadly they were returned in the required period and I'm off researching other models and brands.

Great tool, easy hookup.
great tool! Lasts upwards of 7 hours of continued use as a music player at medium-volume (between 8 and 11 volume through my phone's player.) It connects to the phone quickly, and is exceptionally clear when taking calls. Though i haven't had a chance to try the microphone for calls. It also doesn't have any issue hearing my commands when using the cardo voice commands to switch songs or raise/lower volume. It does struggle a little bit with making calls though, but i'm going to chalk that up to my own error.
