This is a beautiful book but needs some changes.
Book is very good but it is missing lot of painting at Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum, like View of Auvers, Stary Night, Wheat-field Under Thunderclouds, Pollard Willow, Glass with Yellow Roses, Sunset in Montmartre. That's only few great masterpieces missing in the book. I believe these are in Van Gogh Museum and many others. Plus please don't include that "Crab in his belly". That's is not a great painting at all. I dont care whether it is Van Gogh or any other great painter painted it. Why include this random unnecessary painting while there are so many absolutely stunning paintings. (My belief is he may have painted it for fun. He probably saw a crab like that. That does not make it a masterpiece).Book is great size and well designed. I would like less prose and more painting. Or they can add another 200-300 painting, which will dilute the prose. Gallery style description is good enough as there are many book for more details on Van Gogh. If they reprint that way, it will be the best Van Gogh book ever. I believe colors are very close to original colors. Please remove that "crab". Please please reprint in that way with more full page paintings with original colors. This book dimension is the best dimension for a art book that I noticed.

Van Gogh's Van Gogh art
If you like Post Impressionism and in particular Van Gogh's work, this book is the best collection of his work and the best reproduction of his work I've seen. This book along with his book of Van Gogh letters gives you an excellent understandingof his troubled life and work. I'm now also reading the new "Van Gogh at Work" which gives you a unique understanding ofhis evolving artistic talents and the materials he used.

Beautiful and Informative
I visited the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam this summer and was very moved by the artwork. This book covers many of the pieces I was fortunate enough to see in person. It is essentially a lightweight biography that chronologically follows the paintings as they are presented. As someone with little knowledge of the art world, I found this very helpful with understanding the life and times of Van Gogh and how his work related to other artists of the era. The paintings are, of course, beautiful.

Not bad..
Interesting to read things about Vincent that I hadn't heard before. Guess my main disappointment was none of the paintings I was wanting the book for was in the book. It was interesting to see some of his earlier paintings. Many of the early ones don't look anything like what I've come to recognize as his. Could hardly believe the skeleton head was done by him. =)
