Is the "protected bait" feature likely to block small ants? Small ants are the main bait thieves where we live.

The bait is protected in that it is covered and not able to be easily stolen by a mouse. Small insects such as ants would still be able to enter the bait area.

Can the trap kill the mouse immediately?

Yes, this is quick and install kill trap, designed to slam on their head with 100% accuracy I would say. (or close to 100%)

Will these work on larger rats?

while these are deadly and works wonderfully for mice, they would not work for rats or chipmunks.
