Rs' Science All-in-One Microscope Slide Preparation Kit, 40 Pieces

This is a perfect start up package for those using a microscope! I love the care and attention that went into it. You get a cute little sticker that says something about loving science, that was super cute. I especially loved the premade slides that came with it, that felt like a little bonus to all the accessories you get. I highly recommend!

Love it so far! These are a couple I did last night. I was able to take a pic with my phone. Just turn the microscope light off but have the room light on and it works great! I used the tweezers and vials to collect my dog hair specimens. (Even though I could have just yanked a couple hairs!) But it’s more fun to play scientist. It’s a great starter kit and the pamphlet that’s included is very informative and interesting. The dissecting needle is handy. It’s just great! The dyes work very well.

The microtome included is difficult to get the hang of, but everything else included is excellent. I was not expecting such an informative booklet, and have had a lot of fun performing the suggested experiments to learn basic microscopy.

I am very pleased with the microscope slide preparation kit. All of the items listed in the product description were present, and of good and durable quality. I bought the kit on the recommendation of another Amazon review when I bought my elementary-aged daughter a microscope, and I am very glad I did. I recently used the microscope in my own elementary classroom, and had my preschool students prepare and observe their own slides. The methylene blue solution, in particular, helped us create very clear slides of pond water samples. There was also a cute sticker included, along with a contact card in case there were any defective items. I would (and likely will) repurchase this item in the future.

I bought this kit to prepare slides for a college-surplus microscope I have at home. I am a biochemist/virologist who used such equipment in research for decades, but now in retirement I just want to have fun looking at little things. The kit is simple to use and it is easy to make temporary slides of all kinds of samples. The included depression slide is good for looking in water samples for swimming microorganisms. There are even a few prepared slides with plant and insect sections. The only slightly negative feature is that the cover slips in the kit are plastic, which is good for safety, but they permanently pick up the stains. You may want to buy a box of additional slides and cover slips if you are going to do any serious microscopy.

We have not tried all of it but it came on time, all pieces included. My son loves all the "cool" stuff in the kit and makes him feel like a real scientist.We ended up getting a plastic box to store everything in, including his microscope we got for him. However, the cardboard box would have been just fine. It is made of strong sturdy cardboard.

The 43 pieces include some things that are single use, like lens wipes, but you can get 90% rubbing alcohol and a lint free rag. However, the kit is super thorough. It comes with vials, dyes, a dish, a really excellent guide for kids' microscope activities. We've also enjoyed the pre-made slides. I highly recommend this as a starter set for home use.

Although some parts, like the pipettes, are a bit flimsy, the rest were of surprisingly good quality. If you just bought a microscope and are tying to learn how to use it, this tool set is a good buy.
