Quick game with a samurai theme
Samurai Vassal is a game by Ice Makes for 2-6 players, aged 12+, and a game generally takes 20 minutes. This is a portable game, and there is a lot of complexity to it. Some people will love this game. Others will not enjoy the hard strategy aspect.(Please see the enclosed pictures.)In this game, you are playing the head of a family (Daimyos), and you talk with the other players before revealing your cards, making deals, and breaking your word to accumulate 12 prestige points. Each player has six clan member cards. Each turn is divided into three steps: (1) play a clan member, (2) determine the winners of the round, and (3) earn your prestige points. You can negotiate with other players, but all that ends when you reveal your card. There are three ways to win a round. Some cards have effects on them. For example, "if anyone played the ____ card then you win the round." If no effect wins, then rank of the card what was played by the most people share a victory. Finally, if there is a tie or only single numbers, the highest number wins. There are rules for tie breaks, how to divide points, etc. You will want to read through the rules several times before bringing this game out to the gaming table. Then, place your winning card in your scoring pack. If someone has 12 points, the game ends immediately, and he or she wins.

Easily playable with kids 8+, great filler game, fun high/low game with a twist
After reading about this quick game, I figured I would give it a go. My family and I are huge card & board game aficionados. This game is a all about hoping for the highest number card, however with a twist, because you only have 6 cards to play from, so choose wisely, and hope no one pulls a 1. Say someone draws a 1, from their hand, and it says "Someone plays a 5, but all 1,2,3 & 4 win, then the highest number loses, but all the lower numbers win instead. I don't want to give the game away, but there are some interesting cards that can take a turn for the better or worst depending on when it is played. It's a great small filler game on game nights that has enough strategy, a bit of gambling, and a lot of luck. My daughter, 8, and I really enjoy playing this game, and we'll play it about 3 times in a row.Game comes with plastic token chits, cards are printed on a nice cloth type finished card, and the artwork is really nice. Game rules are easy to follow and allow for a variety of ways to play. The box that houses all the contents in is compact, but holds all the items. it all comes in is nice and thick. Due to the size the game can easily be taken on road trips easily.

No Box!
There isn't a box for the game. Chips are in their own little bag and cards were just wrapped.

Advanced Version of Rock, Paper Scissors
Quick Review: This is a great card game for in between longer strategy games. Samurai Vassal plays in about 20 minutes. First person to earn 12 coins wins. There is strategy and table talk. The best thing is that everyone plays at the same time. This game is interesting enough to buy for for your next game day, and plays 2-6 players - but best for 3.Additional Info: This game has everyone start with the same 6 cards numbered 0-5, but in a different color. After playing a round with the basic cards you'll want to add in the golden character cards that have unique abilities. The one flaw is that the instructions are too vague. We ended up making some house rules to resolve some situations that came up that weren't addressed in the instructions. That being said, the game was still fun to pass the time while waiting for other players to finish up their game. It does play like rock, paper and scissor in that the winner is determined by the highest card played, but two lower numbered cards beats a single high numbered card. The golden character cards improve play. Our house rule is that you add 2 of them to your deck. There are a few other suggestions in the instructions on how to change up the game.Overall, this is a good game. Not the best best ever, but a solid 4 out of 5.
