A good review of elements and principles, but if you are after Webb's way, which emphasizes his interlocking shape style of painting I would go with Web on Watercolor, a book published after this one This book is good for beginners. If you are interested in the basics of elements and principles, go to his book Dynamic Composition, which has a wide range of colorful examples.

This book is a real gem. I know the images are not printed well and lack saturation or accurate color , but the writing makes up for everything. Frank Webb stands out in the world of watercolors for his originality. I get tired of watercolors that look like watercolors - too descriptive, too splashy , too sentimental. But Frank Webb turns watercolor into a serious and fun medium for very engaging modern art. Like Milton Avery, he stuck to his convictions about how painting and that is why his work is so authentic. I highly recommend this book for any serious painter.

This book is wonderful! It show a new point of view in the watercolor paint, Not only for the style that this gentleman show, hi is a master in his work, and he is able to explain the way how he works very well supporting all his explanations using a big knowledge of design> I recommend this book to the new artist generation because they will know techniques and advances in this field. He was able to create his own kind of way to use the watercolor. I consider him one of the first in this art in US.Mr. Menendez

I've read it because I was urgent to do, but this book is a reference book so I need to go over from time to time. When I bought "Webb on watercolor" I've realised that the image quality was far better so I think this is a printing problem because the colour is very poor compared to the other book.Letters are double printed in some pages, see the video please.I will wait for a reply. Remember I've already read the book but I need it for future reference.Thank you very muchBest, Paulo Tavares

Spedizione Amazon impeccabile. Per quanto riguarda il libro sono rimasto deluso per la qualità della riedizione di questo testo classico di Frank Webb. Il libro ha le pagine incollate per cui risulta difficoltoso tenerlo aperto, la qualità della carta, matta, non lucida, non fa risaltare adeguatamente le illustrazioni. Ma ciò che lascia più a desiderare è la qualità delle immagini, molto scadente. Insomma l'impressione è di trovarsi di fronte ad un libro fotocopiato. Il che è molto frustrante. Per curiosità ho acquistato sul mercato dell'usato, una prima edizione dello stesso libro e non c'è paragone con questa edizione sia per la rilegatura, per la qualità della carta e delle illustrazioni. Sconsiglio pertanto l'acquisto del libro in questa edizione.

Normalmente lo mejor de los libros de acuarela son las imágenes, pero en este caso, en mi opinión, es el texto.Las imágenes quizás deberían ser más cuidadas y hay bastantes en tonos grises.Frank Webb es un gran acuarelista con mucha personalidad y el libro merece ser leído y releído.Nos habla de la importancia de desarrollar un estilo propio en base a nuestras personalidad y estética, y también de las técnicas para conseguirlo.

Sobre todo si eres alguien con conocimientos basicos de la tecnica, pero su autor tiene una forma especial de jugar con el agua y eso le da una nueva perspectiva a la Acuarela.

For the beginner or intermediate Watercolor enthusiast, this book would be a waste of money. For the advanced watercolor artist, you likely do not need this author's input.
