It's large and not too heavy, the inside is hollow which helps keep the weight down. Practically it's very hard to turn, so more for show. Be warned, one drop and you'll crack it open like Humpty Dumpty.

all Rubix cubes have a string in the center of each side to allow the cube to expand a little bit when turned but there is no spring so when you turn the cube is tries to expand but to mechanizm to allow it to expand it breaks

I love this big cube. It is inexpensive, but good quality. I bought it for my 8 year old daughter who likes Rubik's cubes and she loves it. It is durable enough (if you throw or drop it hard enough some parts may pop off, but it can be reassembled... ask me how I know this...). The cubes themselves are separate pieces of plastic for each color meaning there are slight seams you can feel. These seams do cause it to stick a bit when rotating, but hopefully you aren't wanting to use an 18 inch cube for speed cubing. Overall, I would say it is fun, large, and a great value for the price.
