good songs the title misleading
As noted with other books with similar title some of the songs listed on the Rolling Stone list don't actually appear in this book. So if you're familiar with the real list don't make the assumption that all the songs will be in this book. Check the contents of the book against the list to make sure you what you want. The pricing content are reasonable. I think the skill level is moderate to advanced beginner. The arrangements are decent for someone wanting to learn the basics of the song and so far are good enough to use in a moderate skilled garage band (the real thing, not the game). Most of the songs have moderate to advanced beginner bass lines so they will provide plenty of fill. Though I am new to keyboard I have been playing guitar for several years and as I learned the songs I know that there is a lot missing that an advanced player would want to have. For the new keyboard player, the more advanced stuff that simply lose you, so this is a good option.Guitar chord symbols are included, which is great for the combination player like myself or when playing with others. There also seems to be enough music notations and instructional information to help you learn the songs better.Brand-new players will find the use of fingering notations helpful. Not every note includes the numeric symbols for which finger to use but there are enough to help keep you properly positioned across the keyboard. These are especially helpful for songs that have tempo change or where you move is significant distance up or down the keyboard.Overall editing of the lyrics is good and I've yet found anything that was wrong. Sometimes lyrics are different between books at the scene to track the original songs very closely. In addition chord changes and melody lines are useful. As with most books of this type, the melody line provides a basic introduction and then follows the traditional voice pattern, which means most people will recognize the song quickly. For me, the inclusion of guitar chords along with finger notations means I have already been able to add my own arrangement records to help fill in the song in ways that I like.At the front of the book is an excerpt from the Rolling Stone notes concerning each song in the book. If you party read the comments from Rolling Stone than there's probably nothing new here; however, I like having it in the book simply because he reminded me of some of the songs backgrounds and was a nice addition. In fact, I've already ventured to play three of the songs on stage with the group I normally work with and these liner notes were helpful. If lost or stolen, I would probably replace this book and recommend it for others.
