INVENTIVE MACHINE: ADDRESSES PROBLEMS IN COMPETING WET/DRY VACS. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I bought the WORKSHOP Wet/Dry Vac w. my own $$$ because the designers actually looked at the persistent problems of competing vacs and solved most of them. I used the leading brand's version for years and it was, in spite of a strong motor, a constant annoyance with its poor performance. The hose was 1 and 1/4 inches in diameter (as are most or all of WORKSHOP's competitor's hoses still) causing it to continually clog up. Plus, it would bend shut with regularity, stopping the suction. The WORKSHOP has a 1 and 7/8 inch outside diameter extremely flexible hose which cannot bend so far that the suction shuts off. The hose also has a valve where the nozzle connects, allowing you to adjust the suction: brilliant. This vacuum also solves the problem of winding up the hose when you're done--no need to wind. The flexible nozzle fits, with the hose still attached, into the narrow side of the vacuum: brilliant. Some lamentations by reviewers appear that the vacuum tips over. Well, yes, folks, its narrow because its made for small spaces, like your vehicle, or for going up stairs carrying the device, which I use it for. It's also great in wide open spaces (as long as you don't drag it around by the hose expecting it to follow you) where polypropylene/polyester entryway mats tend to congregate. If you want stability, get a competitor's with wheels and see how you like the clunkiness. And the narrower hose. ALSO:Would like to give this terrific machine four stars +, because few inventions are perfect. The two hooks which hold nozzles should be taller and tighter--the nozzles easily fall off. The electric cord should be 2-3 inches longer to more easily snap the plug onto the cord when wrapped around the side hooks. It is extremely loud. I use ear protection. (I suppose this is the price for such powerful suction: it's more like the suction on my full size Dewalt wet/dry vac, with which I also use ear protection.) And I can't address the reports of poor suction when using the bag, as I never use it. This may be a problem of the physics of narrow spaces. Still, I Iove the inventiveness exhibited by this small, portable machine, and love the performance I've experienced over the last 3 months. AND FINALLY:GREAT SERVICE FROM THIS AMERICAN COMPANY. My package was missing a nozzle. I phoned Emerson Electric and they shipped the nozzle the next day. 4 stars+ for the machine, 5 stars for service.

I Absolutely Love It
I own a painting company and this vacuum makes it super easy to clean up any sanding dust and paint chips. It's super light and fairly maneuverable - although I would recommend getting an extension cord with it as the attached cord isn't too long. I haven't needed to try using it to clean up any wet messes, but it works great for dry messes.

Looked good but disappointing
Purchased to keep in garage and use mainly to clean cars.Sadly, multiple design flaws. Without the paper dust bag, the suction is good, but with the bag installed, the level of suction drops off dramatically.Came with a good array of tools, but no place to keep them. The tool hooks on the top of the unit are too small to be of use. Tools just fall off. In addition, some of the tools, like the long thin radiator tool require an adapter to fit the end of the hose. That's fine, except it adds a small additional took to keep track of.Cord is really too short. a 10 foot cord won't work on any car without the use of an extension cord.
