Bought this to hold two Japanese folding screens together (don't ask why). I'm no handyman, but this was on the screens and working in literally about two minutes (including the time it took to pencil mark the holes and then put the screws in. Latch worked as expected. However, the "lip" (or whatever you want to call it) on the end of the latch is not straight but slightly angled, meaning that if my folding screens are pulled from the inside, the latch slips right out. I suppose that's why the little padlock is shown in the picture here, but if I have to use the padlock, the latch is not as useful as it should be. Still, if this is going on a door or gate that only opens one way, it works just fine. Just not on something that can open either way (unless you buy a padlock too).

Very small, good for small doors. Way too small for a walk through gate. Ended up throwing them away. Couldn’t use them

I needed a latch for one closet at a vacation home so that people wouldn't use the supplies that were left for the cleaning help. This installed easily and work very well with an accompanying combo lock.
