American Academy of Pediatrics Building Resilience in Children and Teens: Giving Kids Roots and Wings

This is an excellent book - a lot of valuable info
The first few chapters were just selling the book, so I had difficulty getting through them. I would skip them if I read the book again. Then there is really great info. It is written a bit like a textbook with info crammed in, pretty heavy reading, but if you can handle that it is an excellent read.

Worth a read - especially if you think everything is going well!
Excellent book - reads like a parent to a parent but has some great points to make in a non-guilt inducing way. Wish I had read it years ago.Would commend to anyone who thinks 'It will all be fine if we just muddle along' - that's when life reminds you that every parent (you included) is an amateur.I am not great on 'experts' in this area - at the end of the day every family is different and there is no perfect recipe. This book has some great ingredients in it for your own 'cake' though...

Great concepts and examples
I haven't finished it yet, but love it so far. So many of the concepts are, in many ways, common sense, but so easy to forget or overlook. It's a great book for finding a good balance between protecting our kids from safety dangers, while letting them become confident, competent adults. My girls are only 1, but I can already put some of it into action and I suspect I will be re-reading this as they grow!
