Perfect for building a searing grill
I bought the burner to make a searing grill. It turned out even better than I expected. I'm only using about 1/4 of the capacity, but bought the 23 jet unit for the physical diameter that it would cover. The first picture is my proof-of-concept, and the burner is just sitting on the floor below a grill grate. I later found a donor grill and swapped out the factory burner for the new burner. All it took was removing the orifice from the control valve of the donor grill. The grill needs zero pre-heat time. There is so much heat that the grill grate is up to temperature in a few seconds. At only half-power, it can provide a heavy sear in as little as 15 seconds per side, which is perfect for sous vide cooking. However, I typically use a modified grilling, where I want the sear to last about 1 to 1-1/2 minutes per side. I have that adjustability with this setup.I made a mistake and take full responsibility for it. I used an old gas regulator for my first test, and ended up fouling most of the jets with dirt. However, they were simple to clean by removing all of them and blowing the casting out with compressed air.

This is great. Will be perfect for brewing beer.
The media could not be loaded. To start off with you do not need that Bayou Classic 5235 Orifice Connector Brass. Don't fall for the frequently bought together thinking you need it. Save your money. All I needed for my set up was a 6 x 3/4 inch nipple with a brass compression reducer which I picked up at the hardware store. Yea they gave me looks when I showed up with this 32 jet burner asking what the heck that was. Once I said it was for brewing beer or frying but mostly for beer they were excited to help me find the parts I needed. Again just 2 parts to connect this to the hose and regulator. Fired up my burner 15 min's after I got home with my parts. Oh yea, I got some pipe dope also to make sure the joints had a good seal. This thing is awesome. I don't think I will have any problems at all boiling or frying with this set up. I should have done this sooner. I spent more for my fryer that has no where near the BTU's of this beast. I'll be working with a friend to make a grate for my new brew station. My first try was just to fry some fries and the small grate I used off of a grill stated to sag after this beast turned it red hot. I will be making a heave duty grate with some angle iron for this thing.

Instant Boil
This thing brings my 7+ gallons wort, in a 15 gallon stainless beer keg to a boil in less than 5 minutes. You have to watch or it will boil over quick. It keeps a steady boil with just a small flame.Only issue I had was getting it mounted. I attached it to a bayou classic stand I had acquired using some pipe clamps, but will probably replace with some sort of U bolts.Highly recommend.

Homebrewing Burner Setup
The media could not be loaded. I bought this jet burner when I got an outdoor natural gas outlet. I bought this burner, a 5-inch black steel pipe (3/4 inch), a brass ball valve for natural gas, and a 24-foot, 1/2-inch, flexible natural gas hose (I added a 3/4 inch to 1/2 in coupler). I already had the steel frame from a propane burner and was able to mount the jet-burning using a couple of U-bolts. I ran a water-boil test - I started with 15 gals of 70 deg tap water. It took 43 mins to get to a vigorous roiling boil. Not bad in my opinion, as we normally start with a water temp around 140 degrees. I think this burning would get to boil in about 20 mins. I was outside and there was a bit of a breeze. The burner was hot - maybe not a crazy as the propane burner I had - but I expect it to work well on the next brewday.

Runs very hat at .5 psi. Very good product.
Changed over from 40 lb tanks of gas to a residential 250 gallon tank not realizing the output would be regulated down to .5 psi. My old burners put out very little heat with such low pressure. I bought these burners hoping to boil large cats of water for canning in a respectable time.Mission accomplished. Warm water in a 22 quart pot boiled in 8 minutes and cold well water boiled in two pots on two burners running from a 12 ft 3/8 flexible gas line in 18 minutes. That is faster than my previous 10 psi burners at a fraction of the gas cost. I reduced to 3/8” fittings and hose. When running a single burner it runs a little hotter so I imagine running 1/2 hose and fittings you could shave a few more minutes off of a dual burner setup.

Works great on low pressure.
Worked great on low pressure off the propane tank. Could use a needle valve verses the ball valve I used. Should work fine off the natural gas line coming out of the house.

Used to convert Bayou classic propane burner to Nat Gas
So the conversion went well - the only issue is I am getting some yellow flames that leave black carbon stains on my stainless cooking pots - contemplating drilling some of the air vents on the nozzles a bit to add more air to the mixture - any feedback is welcome if you have had the same problem - heat output is huge - boils 8 gallons of water in18 min - haven’t done the BTU calc yet but it is better than the propane burner
