Scarred (Never After Series)

Tristan is my new King
If you love a possessive MMC that will do anything for the woman he loves, then this book is for you! I LOVE an obsessive fictional male, and Tristan delivers and then some. Scarred is also enemies to loves, as well as forbidden romance, and the fact that this has all of those elements made me give the 5 star rating.I loved Hooked, but I think Scarred tops it. Fantastic writing, excellent story, and I didn't want it to end.Tristan and Sara are so different yet also so similar, and I love how they literally burn the world down for each other. The chemistry and connection between them was SO intense, and the spice was spicing 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Favorite New Dark Royal Romance
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️Emily McIntire has done it again with Scarred! This dark, twisted retelling was everything I hoped for and more. The tension, the chemistry, the morally gray characters—it’s all there, and it’s fantastic. The plot is perfectly paced, and the dynamics between the characters kept me hooked from start to finish.Sarah is fierce, bold, and unapologetic, a heroine who isn’t afraid to fight for what she wants, even when the stakes are high. Tristan is dark and complex, full of secrets, and the chemistry between him and Sara? Absolutely electric. Emily weaves their romance and personal struggles so well that I felt every moment of tension and connection between them. The spice level is just right—enough to keep things steamy without taking away from the depth of the story. Scarred blends plot and passion beautifully, with layers of dark intrigue that keep you wanting more.Highly recommend for anyone who loves dark romance with a hint of danger.

The plot twists send you for a spiral
I absolutely loved all the different plot twists in the book. They definitely kept me on my toes. The enemies to lovers group was wonderfully done and I can’t wait to read more.

not my favorite
I love Emily’s books, but this wasn’t my favorite. It was super hard to get into and was very slow. The ending was great and worth the read, I just didn’t love it. The only character I really liked was Simon.

Another sexy, delicious villain love story!
This retelling of Hamlet/The Lion King was so very different to Hooked, the first book in the Never After series. I’ll start by saying that I really, really enjoyed this book. However, I didn’t enjoy this story as much as Hooked, and I can’t quite decide why.Tristan, the Scarred Prince, was every bit as delicious and sexy as James “Hook” and Sara B. was an incredibly compelling, cunning, strong heroine. The romance was a much slower burn, but this enemies to lovers story needed that time to develop and it worked well for the plot. The steamy scenes were fewer, but well written and burning hot.Maybe it’s that I wasn’t as invested in this story as I was in Hooked because there wasn’t as much mystery. Perhaps it’s because it was a period piece that felt like it was missing a lot of that period, and aside from Tristan and Sara, the characters here felt a lot more one dimensional - falling firmly into “good” or “evil” instead of existing among the various shades of morally grey. Also, and I think most importantly - I didn’t love the ending. I really think that might be the biggest factor in why I didn’t enjoy Scarred as much as Hooked. I usually grade books on the way I feel when they’re over; and sadly, Scarred left me just a bit unsatisfied. And while I get that the point was to stay true to the original story, enough was changed here that the ending could have also changed. After all that struggle and plotting and planning, I wanted more. All that being said, I would definitely recommend giving it a read, especially if you enjoyed Hooked! There are some beautifully composed lines in here that made me gasp, and God do I love a hero that will quite literally burn the world to the ground for his woman. So so hot! 4 solid stars.

WOW! 5 stars again Emily McIntire!
I absolutely loved Tristan and Sara's story.Sara is determined to get vengeance on the royal family for her father's death. Her uncle and her cousin (the King's advisor) have made a deal for an arranged marriage between Sara and King Michael Faasa III. Sara is only going along with this deal so that she can kill of the Faasas as revenge for them killing her father and destroying the economy of her country.Tristan is the younger brother of King Micheal III. Tristan is the "Scarred Prince", physically and emotionally. Tristan has a scar on his face, tattoos (which are not common in the era this book is written), a horrible temper, and is not shy about killing people. When Tristan and Sara first meet, they do not like or trust each other. This is very much an enemies to lovers situation. As time goes on, they cannot fight their attraction for each other and start seeing each other in secret (since she is engaged to his bother, the King!!). These two go through so many emotions and torture (physical & emotional) to be able to get to their HEA.This book is a roller coaster of emotions and a slow burn, but so well worth the read.

Hatred, Love, Betrayal, Spice!
Well, this one really drew me in from start to finish. There is a TON of spice, but the story line is interesting and I was really smitten by the scarred prince. Dangerous with a naughty mouth? Yes please!

Sara and Tristan were great!
I am so glad I finally read this book. I absolutely loved Tristan and Sara. This book was a little slower to start off, but it worked well- You felt for both these characters in so many ways. My heart went out to them both for what they have been through and struggling with.I love the instant connection they have, they share something and watching it develop throughout the book is so wonderful. They are both on a mission but are also so drawn each other. Once they give in to all the tension and chemistry, these two are intense!I love how Tristan softens for her, and Sara cares for him and wants to know him-just the way he is. It is forbidden, but they can’t deny their feelings or connection they share.I enjoyed how strong and confident a character Sara was and Tristan was so surprising and complex, in the best way-I may have swooned a couple times! All the side characters were a fantastic addition, and just as surprising as the storyline itself. I love the suspense and intensity in this book, once the action starts it had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know more! It is hard to say too much, as it is best to go in with no spoilers. It is worth the read, especially if you enjoy slow burn, forbidden love, and a little suspense.4⭐️

Maravilhoso!!! Favoritei!!!

This is the second book in the Never After series. Just a reminder that these books aren't connected and can be read in any order 😊I LOVED this one. It had a lot of my favourite tropes, good character characters, good story, and lots of spice! 🔥Some of my favourite tropes that were included:• Forbibben Love• Enemines To Lovers• Touch Her & ☠️• Found Family• Slow Burn• Forced ProximityI really liked the MMC & FMC and the twists in the story. It is quite dark and gruesome in parts, but I like that too 🤷🏻♀️😅The spice was 🔥🔥! Lots of dark, super spicy scenes! It's definitely a must-read for dark romance lovers, in my opinion 🫶🏼
