I am really into cocktail making and all things food and drink. I've had a cocktail strainer for 15 years that has done a great job. I bought this Hawthorne Cocktail Strainer from Top Shelf Bar Supply for a friend who didn't have a strainer. Not wanting to give my friend and inferior product, I took it out to examine it. Once I touched it I knew I wouldn't be giving it away. I really like well-made products. The simpler the product often the more difficult it is to get it just right. They got this one right. The weight and feel are perfect and it strains flawlessly.One thing to note, the spring on the strainer is very tight so no ice chards get through at all. For most people, and generally for myself, this is ideal. You typically don't want any ice chards in your drink. However, I sometimes do want ice chards in certain cocktails. So I'm keeping my old strainer but will be using this one 90% of the time.

I have an oxo strainer that I love, but the idea of being able to pour two drinks at once was just too tempting, so I purchased this one. It’s been three months now, and I still have not figured out a way to reliably pour two drinks at once. You have to have the strainer at exactly the right equilibrium, otherwise one glass feels faster than the other. Additionally, unless you pour super fast, my cocktail will inevitably dribble down the shaker. Maybe other folks can do this, but I haven’t been able to master it yet. So for me it’s a waste.

As a working high volume cocktail maker, I can raise my right hand and swear to you that these things are quality.These were designed from the ground up to fix other issues other strainers present.The tight spring is awesome. Drinks that are muddled typically are double strained using a fine strainer. I actually ditched my fine strainer now that I use this Hawthorne strainer. This guy gets all the little bits out. Makes for a pretty looking cocktail without having to worry about bits of mint in your teeth.

These things slid all over the openings of my Koriko shakers. It's not unusable, but just understand that you may hhave to rely on using your hand to intentionally position the strainer rather than relying on the spring to hold it in place. The metal also feels cheap. I bought two, tried one, and returned the other one unused and just bought another Oxo, which I find to be better made and more effective.

Love this spoon. Nice enough to leave out on a little board. Fancy. Much nicer then the mesh strainer I was using to squeeze lemons which started to rust. This was worth the price. Works just like a strainer. Looks big in picture but jars next to it are small. Just big enough to sit on the cup so you can use both hands to squeeze a lemon.

This is the best hawthorne strainer i've used. The spring is really tight. So tight, citrus pulp can barely pass through, let alone ice shards from shaking. It is a little pricey at $16, but it'll last forever, so it's worth it.The only down side, like all hawthorne strainers is cleaning. I just let is soak in hot soapy water for a few minutes at the end of a cocktail night, and then sponge it off. Works fine, just a little bit of a hassle.

I decided that if I'm going to enjoy shaken margaritas every once in a while, it would be fun to make a big production out of it. So I got the proper glasses, got the fruit reamer, got the jigger, got the Boston shaker. But it didn't all come together until I finally thought to get the damn strainer. Otherwise, why bother if you're going to drip and dribble everywhere and plop little ice shards into your perfectly frosted and salted glasses?Not having a good strainer is like wearing your gym sneakers with a ballgown, I decided (and I've done that, too).

I bought this product as a gift for my boyfriend and he really likes it. He says it's easy to use and we both like the more timeless look of this one as opposed to the ones with all the wiring on the sides. I was a little bummed that the box it came in was smashed and torn a bit -- I bought this specific product because I also liked the packaging (important because it was a gift), but overall that wasn't the most important thing and we are both happy with the end result.
