FD-4616 Fuel Filter

These are a standard maintenance item, they can get expensive if you can find them in stock locally, Amazon allows me to get a great product at a great price and delivered to my door.

I always stick with OEM parts when it comes to maintaining my truck, and the Motorcraft FD-4616 fuel filter is a perfect example of why. This filter fits my 6.0 Powerstroke perfectly and performs exactly as expected. Installation was straightforward, and everything lined up just right — no leaks, no hassle. What I like most is the peace of mind knowing I’m using a filter designed specifically for my engine. It keeps fuel flow smooth and clean, which is essential for these high-pressure systems. I replace mine every 15K miles, and this filter has never let me down. If you own a Ford diesel, don’t mess around with off-brand filters. This is the only fuel filter to use with a 6.0 Powerstroke. I would not recommend using any cheap aftermarket filters on this truck. The cheaper filters sometimes don't fit the fuel bowl properly and I don't trust their ability to truly filter the fuel. I. Also can't recommend the Motorcraft oil filters enough for this truck for the same reasons. I would suggest getting the low profile fuel filter socket that cab be found here on Amazon for those who don't have a ratchet with a flexible head. It makes filter removal a little easier. I also highly recommend making sure to lubricate the new o ring and torque the filter cap at the pump properly. It can suck air and not build fuel pressure if it's not tight enough, so keep that in mind.

These filters fit and don't leak Diesel. What else can you ask for, except a lower price. For what they are, they are pretty expensive considering there are no moving parts nor electronics. They literally just sit there and filter... Make sure you watch the install vids that are out there 'cuz if you do this wrong, you can break the plastic housings without even trying.

This is an OEM Motorcraft part at a fraction of the cost of the dealership! Don't get off brands of Ford filters; there are just too many problems. Get these originals at a little more cost than the knock offs, but half the cost of the dealership and you get the best of both worlds. Changing them is easy. However, 19 nM is not the same as 19 da. nM... The plastic cap on top of the motor housing says tighten to 19nm, and so I used my 1/2" torque wrench and did rotated it to 19 and tightened it down... Well, the 1/2" wrench is in DA NM (deca newton meters....) = x 10.... So what should have been tightened to 14 ft. lbs of torque (which is correct, btw) was tightened to 140 ft. lbs.... Well, it's on, but I don't think it's coming off... LOL The filter on the rail uses the same 36mm wrench that your oil filter cap uses. Some people have said 35mm fits as well; couldn't say. I didn't have either and had to wing it with something "close enough". It would make sense that they used the same wrench as the oil filter housing for ease of tools. Anyway, plenty of great videos on YouTube on how to change these out, and I feel stupid for paying the dealership for 5 years to do it for me at 4-5x the cost of these parts.

Just what I needed for my F250 diesel truck oil change. The 2 fuel filters were a perfect, authentic Ford Motorcraft product not a knockoff. The diesel oil filter by Wix was just what I expected. Went together as they should.

So as per all the forums and YouTube, stick with OEM. This product seems like the legit thing. No issues related to the fuel since installing and I am due to redo it shortly after about 2 oil changes.

It's a ford part. At 3/4 the cost of the dealer. If you have a 6.0 use only the Ford ones as aftermarket is not built the same. 450k km on the truck can attest
