It is also stranded and most vintage gear uses solid core wire, typically 20 gauge or larger (this is 22awg, which is smaller). Many suppliers of vintage "style" amplifier repair wire suggest and sell cloth covered PVC insulated wire for repairs and new builds. This wire has only a waxed cotton insulator, so I would not recommend using it in a high voltage application as there are far safer and similar "looking" products available that have modern insulation properties.
