Very good but you need the help of your teacher. Otherwise you are not sure if you are doing it correct. It would be 5 stars if it had the CD with the rhythms.

This is a great book, if only it had arrived without water damage. I could have ordered a used one and gotten one in better condition. Not sure that it is worth the shipping to return.

I buy this book all the time for young and adult students. For my youngest kids, I will make games out of clapping rhythms or give rewards for whatever level they can clap correctly. I use this book with a metronome at times and write in my student's assignment books speeds that they should shoot for. If I have siblings that are sharing books, I write the name of the student and a speed beside a date. For example: pg 4, Alexa, 60 bpm by June 15th, Alicia 90 bpm by June 15th - pg 5 Alicia 60 bpm by June 15th and 90 bpm by June 22nd. Sometimes I give no instructions at all and let the siblings compete on their own. The only thing I have to do is put a check mark when they have "passed a level". Maybe one sibling gets check marks and the other one gets starts or however they want to do it, but they enjoy passing each other.With adults, I basically just hand them the book and say... Here. Learn this. They complain and mention that they've been playing piano their entire life, and they just want a few lessons. I mention that they didn't hire me to be their friend and listen to them play. They hired me to teach them to play well. They laugh and take the book, grudgingly... and usually come back the next week excited to reply all the songs they had just played for me... because they all magically sound better when the rhythms are right!It's a great tool for a teacher who knows how to teach and who has enough personality to make it fun. That should be a requirement for music teachers anyway! It has everything a teacher could need for most students - and not just piano students.

Very simple and easy way to teach yourself how to count. Economical too! I use for my violin and cello students.
