My gym doesn't allow traditional chalk. When they enacted this rule, I was annoyed. But it led me to this product. I actually prefer it to chalk now. There's no dust, and it provides a nice, dry surface to my hands. There is a tiny bit of "stickiness", which I like for deadlifting and chinups. Even for things like bench press if my hands are getting slippery.

Effectiveness (2): works great for grip… better than any other dry grip enhancements, including Dry Hands (my personal favorite). And water alone will not remove it… must use soap.Value=2: The best value of all, that I’ve found… well ones that actually work.Versatility=0: The only bad is that it leaves a lot of white chalk film on everything you touch until it dries, and some after it’s dried…so don’t touch your clothes or face, if you don’t want the chalk on it.If that doesn’t bother you then this is awesome…but for me, it makes it limited to just lifting and exercise, rather than golf, work, etc.

I absolutely adore this stuff! The Gold's Gym, where I work out, heavily frowns on chalk, but if you are doing heavy deadlifts and power cleans, your only recourse is to use straps. Who the heck wants to do that?! I discovered "Liquid Grip" about three years ago, and it has become my "go-to" chalk in the gym. I am not much for recommending products on Amazon, but I definitely chose to make an exception in this case. Happy Lifting!

Make sure to wash and dry hands before. I'd say wait 2 min for it to dry. Make sure it doesn't get around cap so it doesn't dry and stay open.
