Can you take the tooth out of the retainer? I don't want to ruin my retainer if I don't like the tooth for some reason.

if your using a retainer with wax yes you can. if your retainer was given to you with a tooth inside of it from your orthodontist then it just depends on how it was made. i have two retainers given to me by my orthodontist and i am only able to change out the tooth in one of them.

How long are these meant to last? How often should it be changed?

I’m using them in aligner trays that I change weekly. I usually put a new one in with each new aligner change, though the orthodontist says I could transfer them from one aligner to the next until they look worn. I had some difficulty removing them to transfer, so I just started going with a new one with each new tray. Theoretically, they could last for a good while if you’re careful on transfers of if you’re using them in a retainer. It’s a good product and serves its purpose well.
