Title: Robust and Versatile Cage for Sony a7 IV - A Must-Have for Videographers
Title: Robust and Versatile Cage for Sony a7 IV - A Must-Have for VideographerI recently purchased the SmallRig Camera Cage for my Sony a7 IV, and I must say, it has been a game-changer for my videography setup. The build quality of this cage is outstanding – it's made from a sturdy, yet lightweight aluminum alloy that doesn't add unnecessary bulk to my camera. The design is well thought out, providing numerous mounting points for accessories without obstructing any of the camera's functionality. I especially appreciate the various 1/4" and 3/8" threaded holes, as well as the cold shoe mounts, which allow me to attach a range of accessories like microphones, lights, and monitors.Installation is a breeze. The cage fits the Sony a7 IV like a glove, ensuring a secure and stable setup. It does not interfere with the battery compartment or the cable ports, which is crucial for long shooting sessions.Another aspect I love about this cage is the ergonomic grip. It makes handling the camera more comfortable, especially during long shoots. The cage also integrates seamlessly with other SmallRig accessories, making it a versatile part of my camera rig.The only minor drawback is the weight it adds to the camera, but that's a small price to pay for the level of protection and functionality it offers.Overall, the SmallRig Cage for Sony a7 IV is an excellent investment for any videographer looking to enhance their camera's functionality and protection. It's a solid, well-designed product that I highly recommend. 5 out of 5 stars!

Smallrig products never fail to disappoint
The media could not be loaded. Smallrig have always delivered really high quality, professional grade products. Backed by many in the industry, you can believe this will not disappoint. The cage is made of really high quality metal and has some weight to it. If you film video then you know that some added weight always assist with producing smoother footage. Many mounting areas with 1/4” and 3/8” thread and cold shoe mounts. You’ll be able to rig this out to your personal preference with this being such a modular design. There’s rubber padding in key contact points so you rest easy your camera will stay safe within the cage. All input/output areas beside the camera are free of the cage so you are able to easily access them. The battery door below can be access once a small section of the cage is swivelled out the way. Personally I like this as an extra measure to the ensure the battery door will stay closedI’ve seen two versions of this cage. One version, the one I have, has two cold shoe mounts, one at the top right of the camera and one at the top left. The other version is with one cold shoe mount on the top right of the camera, whereas the other side has 1/4” threads instead. Both available in SmallRig official website so both products are authentic. Just something to be aware of when looking to purchase.

Wish wehad these 10 years ago on Canon! Superb gadget!
I'm a landscape shooter not a video perosn and when I owned a Canon 5D I bought the Manfrotto L-plate mounter, it was OK but it never quite did the trick despite the horrendous price I paid. This cage on the other hand is flipping amazing! I mounted a Sony A7r-V inside, it fit very securely, I can reach all the controls and the number of mount points I now have, plus dummy hotshoe sockets for accesseries like large screens or whatever. You buy an extra tripod head plate, then you simply mount one underneath and one one the left side, instant rotatation whenever without moving the head.As well as having dozens of tripod mount threads all over it also protects the camera from scratches as the cage wraps right around. I cannot understand why anyone can say they can't reach the battery compartment, there's a little arm that swings into place that locks the battery door in place, which stops you accidentally opening the door.If you're serious about your shooting and you find yourself having to constantly tilt the tripod head over at 90 degrees to get from landscape to portraint mode, stop right now and buy this cage today!

Must have for sony videographers!
The media could not be loaded. Needed a cage set up for my Sony A7iv so this was a no brainer. Having used many of Small Rig's items over the years I knew I would be please.Install was easy and its nice knowing I could use the included screws to fix it to a Sony a7siii if I ever needed to. The design adds a ton of versatility options as far as rigging the camera for different shoots. Big fan of the built in magnetic tools, battery access latch and cold shoe attachment. The cage also helps protect the camera that much more.My only negative is how it fixes to the camera, as it only secures to one strap mount and the bottom tripod mount of the body, the right side feels like it moves about a little when using the camera. It just feels a little flawed in that sense but it's never loosened so far and I've used it a ton. There's just a slight BIT OF movement. I do think the design of the cage is little more protruding that I've seen in the past, more so near the top of the camera where the logo is. All things said, its a great well made bit of kit :)

One of my favourite gear purchases
I've been filming clients for ten years and only last week finally invested in a cage. I've always been put off thinking it might add too much weight and bulk (I prefer to work light). However, I have been so pleased with this. Weight, this adds almost nothing to my camera as it's so well machined. It adds a ton of mounting points which are very useful. I purchased a top handle to go with it (also by Smallrig) and it's transformed my shooting style. It handles a 7" monitor (Desview R72) brilliantly on top. Highly recommended and gutted I didn't buy one sooner.
