Let's Pretend Princess Party Set: With Book and Press-Out Pieces

This book has "puzzle pieces" that are supposed to fit into specific spots as you read the book. The pieces are printed on both sides, yet clearly only fit into the slots ONE way. My grand daughter is 3, very bright, but finds this frustrating...."which way does it go, grandma?" To me, if you cannot put it into the slot using either side, then it should not be printed on either side. I solved the problem by putting an "X" on the "wrong" side......but it still seems odd to me that the maker of this book would not have figured this out. Also, the puzzle pieces fit into the slots VERY snugly and are hard to get out once they ARE in. The story is okay, not the best. I do think the "puzzle pieces" are cute, but this book is not one of my, or her, favorites.

I've gotten a few of these Priddy activity books - the toolbox and the dollhouse one. Both of those help my 3-yr old daughter's attention better than this Princess Party box. This was fun to open up and discover, but the activities are pretty limited to just putting the pieces into the puzzle over and over. There is some pretend play, but just not as robust as the toolbox. They should come out with a cooking/baking one - I can see much more play time with that theme.

I bought this book for my 2 year old grand daughter. It is durable , colorful and fun to play. The puzzle pieces are stored right in the book and it closes with a magnet. Very easy to store and get out whenever she comes to visit.
