Gempler's Rust Converter - Gallon

This stuff works fabulously. It freezes rust in its tracks. I've been using it for years on new stuff. Its a must buy if you want to control rust.

This stuff is awesome, but needs to be applied to rust - it does not adhere to bare metal. A perfect base for rustoleum on trailers, truck frames and farm equipment.

I first bought a quart of this trying to get my car passable; '02 Jeep Libertys are really not known for their ability to resist rusting. Especially the underside and especially as a winter car with all the salt and brine the city throws on the road. All I was looking for was something for the rocker panels and more on a lark I put some on the frame which was nearly orange with rust. I didn't even clean the frame, just dust and all. I checked the next morning and it was COMPLETELY black. I am finishing the rest of the underside with this stuff and onto my other car and my brother's (he didn't believe me until he saw it). I do not like to spray and this type is apply with a brush. Goes on easy and easy clean up with warm water...only (your skin is another story). Don't have enough good things to say.

Used this stuff initially and mainly for coating the bottom and select places on a riding lawn mower deck. I used wire brushes to get flaky rust off; sanded what was necessary, and brushed this stuff on. It combined with the metal / thin rust that remained. Then I primed and painted. I was expecting to have to refurbish again after 2 years, but - it still looks fine. Zero rust now.

We used Gempler's rust converter on some steel shipping containers prior to painting them with a high quality paint. I like water-soluble preparations and paints because of the easy cleanup, and Gempler's was easy to use and to cleanup after use. Our containers were not terribly rusty, but we had five guys on the job of scraping loose rust and applying the converter for a period of four hours. The project was three 20 foot containers and one 40 foot container, and a gallon of converter covered all the rust spots with a pint left over. This stuff is milk thin and one can watch it turn black as it converts the rust. In fact, that's how one knows it's working. We did a good job of pressure washing after that and then sprayed the shipping containers last summer. The paint is sticking well, no rust is bleeding through, and we're happy with Gempler's.

Read the reviews and glad that I did... This product is #1.... first coat turns bright orange and second coat turns the area black and ready to paint over... Absolutely amazing and worth every penny... oh and wuick shipping too... tyvvm

Have boughten product in the past and works great. Have not used this jug yet, really disappointed with shipping and the spillage at the price it costs. Having said that it is a very good product. Just don’t buy from Amazon.
