Why does it say pack of 12? Are there 12 1 lb packs?

It is a miss print. You receive one 1lb pack of beef broth powder.

How long does an unopened package last?

Don't know. I opened both the beef and chicken powders over a year ago. Still tasty. My package says best til Nov 2021. So I'd say it lasts 2 years, unofficial opinion. It is a spice/food blend afterall.

why is this so much cheaper than on Frontier's website?

That is amazons business model. Sell everything a little cheaper with faster shipping even if they take a loss it drives little guys out of business so amazon can then buy them up

What is the shelf-life of this?

Hello. I have used this broth for years. It has a long shelf life. Many people put this up for food storage. It is a powder and you mix with water. I have never had this go bad. Lynn
