I followed written directions and put the blanket electric connector at the foot of the bed. I knew when I saw the location of the plug that it was going to be a problem and it is. It is HUGE. It is about 6 inches from the foot edge of the bed and my feet land exactly on top of this brick. Hard to believe that anyone finds this acceptable. Even though instructions say put at foot of bed I had to put at head of bed to avoid my feet hitting this obstacle. After the second night I started to notice I can feel the wires when laying on top of pad. There is no work-around for this so am returning.I am updating my review as of 18 Nov. My workaround of putting the plug at the head of the bed did not work. I now know why instructions say to put at foot of bed. I noticed the first night after I placed the plug at the head of bed that my foot area had no heat and my head was hot. So unless you like cold feet and hot pillow, workaround won't work. Here's what I tried next. I put plug brick at foot of bed but pulled it down past the edge of bed. I was kind of surprised that it stayed there. The pad elastic has lots of stretch and so far it has stayed in place and not come off. My mattress is about 15 inches thick so I believe this workaround would work for most mattresses. I have also found that the wires are less noticeable now than when I first slept on them. On a negative note I don't like the controller at all. Can't someone make a controller where every button illuminates. What I want is one like the dashboard of my car (adjustable brightness level). Here's another head scratcher. Between the two sides of the heated pad is a cold strip about 8 inches wide. I guess they saved about 10 cents of wire and didn't heat the middle of the pad. Maybe mine is "a unicorn" as I haven't read this anywhere else but it is there. From head of pad to foot of pad about 8 inches wide it is not heated. Like a demilitarized zone between spouse and I. She probably special ordered this feature and didn't tell me. I tried to use a smart plug but could not connect to router due to distance bed is from router. Did not want to buy range extender for router so I can't validate "smart plug Compatibility" but I will say it is more of an afterthought workaround than a smart plug use design. My final thoughts is that I will keep it for awhile as I tried another name brand heated pad and reboxed it within 15 minutes. It had one controller for both sides of the bed, the wires were huge and it simply looked and felt cheap. I'm still rating the beautyrest pad at three stars as so far I don't really like it, but it is the best of the worst. If you took the time to read all of this you are as picky as I am but I hope it helps.Update 9 Dec 22. Still undecided on this heated pad. I saw several other reviews that said they couldn't contact anyone about warranty so thought I would test that out and also ask about non heated area running down center of pad. After about 45 minutes on hold I spoke with rep (jlablankets) and she confirmed that the pad had no wires in the middle so is not heated from top of bed to bottom of bed, right in the center, about 8-12 inches wide. I don't like that at all.

This is a replacement purchase of the exact brand/size mattress pad because the previous one stopped working after 2 years of use. That one definitely had an issue with the connection for the heating elements and we had to use electrical tape to keep it together (purchased 2 and both had this issue). This replacement one has been improved in this area as the connection "clicks" into place now so the connection seems to be maintaining well. A much needed improvement. These don't heat up quickly, so we tend to turn them on about a half hour before bedtime. But then the bed is toasty warm and the warmth maintains well throughout the night.

The only issue I have had is that I’d prefer the sides that tuck under the mattress not to be mesh.

It's spring turning to summer and I have it at 3 so I'm concerned that it won't be warm enough during winter.

Would give them a 5 star rating if they just lasted longer. We get about two winter seasons out of them and have to replace them. Had one king size on our bed for four years and then went with an adjustable split king which required to twin XL. Even bought a double fir for Mother in law and she loves it in her cold Pennsylvania house.

This heating pad is amazing for body aches. Our last one lasted a year and half before my wife’s side quit working. We bought another one after struggling to deal with their warranty support. It’s the reason I knocked 1 star off the review other wise it would be a hard 5 stars.

I am a retired design engineer. I don't normally give five stars, but am giving this five stars and here is why...:This heating pad was easy to figure out. But the particular independent controls (5 levels up or down, preheat and power on-off) and how they hook up definitely deserves five stars. This is just what I was looking for! at the base of the side-skirt of the heating pad assembly are embroydered access ports that can be tucked under you mattress or bed frame. Cords ate not cumbersome and the best part... Independent 5-levels for left side and same with right side. No cross-wiring between sides.My wife has her half of the King size bed and I have my half. At night we don't mind colder temps in the house if we have our heating pads on. We have only used it two nights and very happy. As for durability, YES! This pad, even the deep 15" side skirt. Our bed is a king high quality medium firmness thick memory foam mattress with a 3-inch bamboo fiber memory foam pad and this heating pad. Awesome night's rest. The control I like on level-2 and my wife on level-1. It's absolutely a great bed to sleep in. If you are hesitating on this one, don't! It's a good mattress pad.Worth the price, easy to figure out. I am happy I purchased this product.

LOVE getting into a warm bed on cold nights, love the auto off feature. A timed start would be wonderful, instead of only the manual start. Dislike: the cold spot down the middle (about 12" wide") where there are no wires. It may be due to having dual controls, but this is a design flaw I wish they'd fix.

Bought this for my 93 year old mother and she absolutly loves it. Better then any blanket throw she has ever had. Makes sense as how heat rises. no more cold spots and seems to help with leg cramps as well. Perfect fit on twin XL Mattress adjustable bed.

The controller for my 5 level controller has a Pre-Heat/Boost button. The instructions do not describe what is being boosted in this mode. Is it time to warm up (shortened) or level of heat (more added) or "what does this feature actually do?" When or why would I ever activate this feature, is never revealed. Also, paperwork is folded into bedding and thereby arrives twisted and mangled within the plastic sleeve. Very unprofessional. Thank you.

We have had this on the bed for 7 months. And over the past 3 months the plug connectors on (both sides)on the mattress will not stay plugged in. The plugs in are at the foot of the bed. There is no latch to keep them connected. In short of having to wrap electrical tape on the plug connections to try and keep together, it’s not worth the worry of an electrical fire. We are having to buy a new one, different set up, with proper locks on the mattress cover plugs.

Very happy with this purchase. I have an autoimmune condition that makes regulating my temperature very difficult - often frozen lower body. This mattress pad allows me to "preheat" the bed quickly and to however warm I need. Its amazing. I wish I would have just bit the bullet and bought it years ago.
