I’m new to this. Are there 14 pieces of cloth?

No. There is one large piece of cloth. It is 19"x28". Fourteen count refers to the stitches. The cloth creates a grid with holes that you place stitches in. There are 14 stitches to an inch. The higher the stitch count, the more intricate the design. So a stitch count of 14 is about medium, 11 is somewhat course and 18 is very fine. There are many YouTube videos on how to do Counted Cross Stitch. You should watch a few of them.

Is this fabric finish off around the edges?

No. I have never seen cross stitch material with finished edges. I usually use my finger and very light amount of glue to seal the edges.

Look for either an oatmeal, light oatmeal or a beige.
