An easy, fun read
I have read many books in this Captivating History series. This is the best so far. The author, whoever it is, told the history of France mainly through stories. Since it is more of a survey of France's history, it is hard to convey a sense of what France is. By telling the history via several stories, I believe I better understand what France is all about. My favorites are Vercingetorix, Charlemagne, Joan of Arc, and the French Revolution. Secondarily, I like the rise of Rome and of course, Napoleon. It is a quick, easy fun read.

A great book for research
I enjoyed this book. It helped shed light on some important events that happened in French History. Especially since I'm writing a book that's located in France and I was concerned with the timeline but having read this, it has helped SO MUCH! Definitely recommend!

Quick basic read
A neat primer on French history for the novice learner. Doesn’t do great depth on any topic and doesn’t offer much in the way of analysis, but is a quick read of the basic things that happened.

A History of France? It’s complicated. 🤔
This is quite an impressive accomplishment from Captivating History. It takes you from prehistory up to modern times with useful maps & illustrations, the key figures, those you’ve heard of and some you may not have but should have. This is a college course of info at your fingertips, and an amazing quick read for all material it packs in.Get it; you will not regret it, especially at the price point. ⚜️⚜️⚜️

Good text, bad illustrations
The text itself is pretty good, high level with deeper dives into some important areas. The illustrations in the book are garbage though. Low quality images that look like they were copy and pasted by a ten year old. Pretty disappointed

Easy red- informative
A well written, easy to read, overview of French history. However, I don't believe I've ever read a book so poorly edited. Paragraphs with no capitalization, words with an entirely different font (not for emphasis) and no index. Wow. I guess I nitpick, but there's no excuse for this.

Easy read. Informative.
This book is almost like reading an encyclopedia (remember cyclopedias?) with informative little editorial insertions. It's detail doesn't go several layers deep BUT the author gives you references for same it you want to pursue it.

Came with no author’s name or index.
The experience of returning this book was excellent. The book had no author, no references and no index. It would be suitable for children who want to read a narrative story.
