Brilliant fantasy novel.
Stephen Lawhead's moving description of TĂr na nĂ“g in this book makes it worth reading numerous times.

Very Engaging
This novel has two nations warring...one with high standards and morals and the other with animal instincts and actions who are trying to overrun and wipe them out. Add in a handsome warrior who rescues fairie people while instilling loyalty and devotion in the men who join him by his selfless actions, then add a love interest who can’t seem to physically be near him long enough to actually marry him and you have a very engaging story. I love the Celtic feeling of the language and place names used as well as customs and Dark Ages way of life for a time period. I was never bored or disgusted or disappointed in this story. Can’t wait for the third installment. A plus for this book is that if you never read the third book, it will be OK as this story can stand on its own and does not leave you hanging...just wishing for more.

Battles and Kings
The adventure continues. Conor and his two boon companions return to find the isle in turmoil. They have a plan to find a place, but they didn’t account for the plans of the kings on the isle.Strong ending, a bit slow at a few points with the minutia of daily life, but the characters are vivid and gripping so I’m really enjoying it.

Book 2, leaves nothing to be desired
Great book, well written and researched to reflect a time long past. As with all S. Lawhead’s books, and I have read every one, I could hardly put it down. Connor becomes the leader he was born to be, facing danger head on. Rejected by his brother, the queen who made him war leader and the farie people who he again saved he is undeterred in his quest to save his people and land. His powerful presence attracts a war host to be reckoned with and sets him on course toward saving Eirlandia, and now not alone but with his betrothed, and his two faithful friends.

Ready for Book Three
I was expecting another good installment after the 1st book in this series. As usual, it IS full of imagery and complete fullness of good story telling. After years of reading Stephen Lawhead, I can't imagine anything different. This is a beautiful, flowing story with evil raging to overcome what is decent in the world of Eirlandia, while what is decent has it's own shortcomings. Although there is no introduction so far to true Goodness in this book, or the previous, there is plenty of room for Book 3 to bring it along. Thankful that I have this one on the shelf!

Setting Up For An Epic Conclusion
Having just finished this book, I find myself anxiously biting my fingernails waiting for book 3! As usual, Lawhead does a masterful job of driving forward a tale in such beautiful and vivid description and emotion that I felt I was in the story, while setting me up for an epic conclusion. Every time I would put the book down to take a break, I was so captivated by the story I wanted to pick it back up to see what happened next. Wonderful story! Can’t wait for book 3!

A glorious feast of fiction!
C.S. Lewis once wrote that the best way to read fiction is to surrender wholly to the story. This is not a hard task at all in this new series of Eirlandia. Lawhead takes mythological history of Ireland and weaves in all the pathos of the human condition. He takes you on a journey with the characters that will not let you go. There are great riches for the soul to feast on in both books in the series. The struggles in this book are not to be missed!

The story builds.
Connor continues his time in the wilderness, rejected by family, faerie, and new queen. In the wilderness he finds his way to new meaning and purpose. As with all middle books in a series, this one moves the story along and builds toward a great book three.

Page turner
Loved it kept you turning the page. Not sure if the historical use but a good yarn nevertheless. Can’t wait for book 3 if there is one. I should think so.
