Keeney K1439WH, Deep Thread Cast Brass Sink Power Ball Basket, Complete Kitchen Strainer-Black Finish 4.5"

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!! Hands down, the worst item I have bought from Amazon in over 15 years of ordering. We have spent months renovating our kitchen, and it looks marvelous (I must say) except for the plug in the sink, we bought a black plug to go with our black sink and within a week the ‘black paint’ had almost entirely chipped off leaving an unsightly and far from matching brass plug in it’s place. Well that’s the problem right there, PAINT !!!!!! can you believe it? It’s just a coat of black spray paint, it’s not baked on or an integral part of the surface in any way. Of course it’s going to chip off, especially when exposed to hot water and alot of activity like...oooh...I don’t know....WASHING THE DISHES!!!! or something crazy like that. If I was responsible for producing a product of such poor quality and ripping off my fellow man in such a brazen manner, I would have to go home to my children and say, ‘Kids your daddy/mummy is a complete failure in life... under no circumstances follow in my footsteps or find inspiration in my moral fiber or work ethic’.

***Update:Less than two years later and the strainer looks terrible. The black has chipped off from different areas even though we keep the plug on it permanently to prevent losing a wedding ring. Just crossing my fingers that the rim visible with the plug in holds up. Luckily I didn't use putty or silicone to install, which is still a weird coincidence because I have since installed 2 more sinks and used silicone. At least it'll be easy to remove.Original review:This does not come with the plastic or brass pipe that compression fits to it, unlike many basket strainers.That said, this is an absolutely beautiful piece, well finished , nothing cheap about it. We have this installed in a black quartz sink and it looks as though it was designed for our sink.For the first time, I chose to install without putty since the non staining putty needed for quartz is 10x the cost. Instead I installed with the rubber seals/ gaskets that came in the box and no leaks so far.

Well made, solid components....first time ever, did a replacement to kitchen sink by myself. Perhaps the key is to work slowly. Directions were poor, but youtube to the rescue. Will order a second unit for the other side of the kitchen sink. The second unit has been rec'd and quality consistent........Follow up report.......These are solid brass, painted. One unit is perfect and has withstood use....The second sees the paint peeling big time...I will need to replace the unit. Shame....

When spending thousands of dollars on a solid maple cabinet, soapstone countertops and integrated soapstone sink, you'd think the paint on the black sink strainers would last more than one year. This product is a complete disappointment and destroys the look of an otherwise wonderful kitchen sink. DO NOT BUY from this company - you'll be disappointed beyond words.

Just terrible! We've only had these installed for a little over a week and two of the three are already chipped, plus one of them has paint rubbed off the edge. This is with very light use. Even the one that's in my laundry room sink, which hasn't had any pots or pans touch it, has chipped.
