Very well built, and looks great too
After some neighborhood brats were messing with everyones mail, we decided to invest in a nice locking mailbox. We did a lot of research and found that Architectural Mailboxes was the brand we wanted to go with. Thanks to Amazon, it showed up about 3 days later.... very fast shipping. Right out of the box it looked HUGE compared to our old one, but once it was on the pole and out in the yard it looks perfect. It is very well built, has seals on both doors and hasnt leaked a drop since we put it up. The neighbors love it and it really adds curb appeal to the house. We also bought the heavy duty pole (Oasis in ground pole) and install was very easy. I bought a concrete sonus tube at Home Depot, buried it about 18" down, filled it with concrete and slid the pole in. Leveled everything and let it set over night. The next day it was as solid as, well.....concrete. Install of the box on the pole was easy, 4 bolts and its done. The inside of the mailbox is huge. We've had all kinds of mail delivered in the past 3 weeks, including parcels, magazines and standard mail. Everything fits with tons of room to spare. Both doors feel solid, and well insulated from the weather. Even our mailman commented on how nice the box was. We are very happy with this mailbox and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a well built, quality locking mailbox. Its a nice feeling to be able to go on vacation now and not have to worry about asking someone to pick up your mail, or people tampering with it while you're away. The size of this mailbox should easily hold 2 weeks or more of an average households mail if on vacation. Hope this was helpful.

Good security for your mail
This is a very attractive mailbox and I like the fact that now I can be a way for several days and not have to worry about someone stealing my mail. I used to have to ask my neighbor to pick up my mail just to be gone for an overnight trip, but now I can store several days of mail without worry. The box is so nice, my neighbor bought one too. One night, someone went down the street vandalizing mailboxes, and mine survived unharmed, but the front hatch on my neighbor's was partially broken. Despite this attempted break-in, the mail inside was still protected and the box is still functional. The one disadvantage is outgoing mail. The box has a clip in the hatch door that lets you put outgoing letters. This clip can't hold many letters. The space is also too narrow to hold most greeting cards. We have a workaround where we tape larger outgoing letters and cards to the inside of the hatch door. Despite this disadvantage, I would never go back to a regular mailbox.

Great Mailbox, Good Looking and Functional
Moving into our new house I searched all over for a decent looking, yet functional mailbox, that could be mounted in the gate and accessed by key from inside, without hindering the deposit of average size packages. Came across this one, read the reviews and went for it. Don't regret it. The fence installers did the cutout and mounted it before bringing the fence parts over. It looks beautiful in our fence and accessing it from the yard is very convenient. Big boxes can't fit, but general packages of about 6-8" wide and 3-4" high, fit very well. The little red flag to alert the postal people is not the best design, but we don't leave mail to be picked up, so that isn't a show stopper for us. All in all, really happy with the purchase, materials are good quality and it appears to be holding up through all of the rain we have had. Going on 8 months now, it still has its luster and there are no signs of decay, rust or any other issues. I also can't say that I have ever had an issue where the mail was wet, so leakage doesn't appear to be a problem either.

Not Secure Enough
While this box looks good, it really isn't very good quality. I expected more. Overall, the gauge of the metal is quite flimsy. And these items are unacceptable: The rear door is not very strong, it could easily be bent with a screwdriver; the lock is a standard cabinet lock (cheap) that isn't secure enough; and finally, I often arrive home to see mail sticking out of the back door - someone could easily pull it out, and it gets wet when it rains. I'm not convinced the mail delivery slot is strong enough either. I can't recommend this if you are looking for a secure mail box. If you are looking for a mailbox that locks, it's probably good enough. Looks/aesthetics, it is a 4 star, but security has to come first, thus the single star.

You really need to read this....
Like many Amazon shoppers I read a lot of reviews before buying an item. This mailbox had all 5 star reviews and I read them all. However, as I was reading the reviews I could not find any reviewer that addressed the issue of "Outgoing Mail". I even posted a couple of questions in the "comment" section and received no replies. Foolishly, I went ahead and purchased this mailbox. The outgoing mail for this box attaches to a clip inside the "incoming" door. The problem is it just does not hold near enough mail. The door will not even close with just the return DVD from Netflix, let alone anything bigger. I sometimes sell items here on Amazon and send by USPS. Won't be doing that with this mailbox. Also, my old mailbox was placed across my driveway and not visible from my office window. I was hoping to be able to know when the mail had come without going outside to look. Alas, this mailbox has a small red plastic flag that sticks out the front of the box and is totally out of sight of anyone viewing from their home. And, although I knew this going in, I find I do not like walking on the wet grass (it's raining here in California, regardless of what the Beach Boys say) to unlock the rear door to retrieve my mail.I will be taking this box down and replacing with another.
