My "workstation" is a retired server, which never had USB3. With the low profile bracket, I installed the card into an empty PCIex4 slot, and it was just that easy. I now transfer files to external drives at lightning speed, when needed. All my USB peripherals are recognized, everything just works. I can recommend this card for any computer with an empty PCIe slot, doesn't matter whether the slot is x1, x2, x4, x8, or x16. It will fit, and it will work.I VERY HIGHLY recommend the card for others who have adopted an orphaned server, whether 2u, or larger.Be aware that transfer speeds will be dependent on the slowest peripheral plugged into the card - put your slower items on the existing USB2 bus.
