Extremely useful
You have no idea how many times I have needed a tool like this. I bought it especially to use with another tool that will help me braid things. I usually put a loop around my big toe but that can be difficult and in convenient. This allows you to clamp down or hold many tools that you need an extra hand to accomplish. If you are concerned about damage to a tabletop just put something to protect it from making marks I use scraps from a tabletop protecter mat. I am sure you could figure out something to use as an alternative. This clamp cures many headaches in crafting.

Makes the stitches better.
I changed the string to make it less floppy, but otherwise, it's very good to have around. I hand sew when listening to radio or watching TV, and attach it to a tall plant stool. Works fine. It really helps keep the stitches uniform.
