I’ve been using the Vanity Cream shampoo and conditioner set for almost a year now, and I absolutely love it. I've been a longtime fan of Vanicream products, especially their moisturizer, so I was excited to try this shampoo and conditioner set. I suffer from a very sensitive scalp that is very itchy and I have to be careful with products I use. My dermatologist just told me about Vanicream having Shampoo and Conditioner so I ordered and used first time today. I noticed before getting out of shower that my scalp felt completely calmed down!!! My hair was squeaky clean and moisturized and I was very impressed. I’ll keep using to see how my hair responds after several washes. I’m hoping to cancel subscription to more expensive shampoo I’ve been using.

It seems no retail stores sell free and clear shampoo and conditioner, so I resorted to searching on Amazon. This stuff is amazing! What I love: -I LOVE that both products are fragrance free! Seems like this is a hard thing to come by for shampoo and conditioners. :) -Shampoo left my hair feeling clean. -Conditioner was very hydrating. -Worked just as well as regular shampoos and conditioners. Heck, I'd even say these products worked BETTER for me than other shampoos/conditioners I've used. My hair is thick and tends to be a little frizzy. These products clean well, but aren't drying, so they work great for me! -Made my scalp happy. I wasn't sure if my old shampoos/conditioners were irritating my scalp, but I was having break-outs on my scalp. I have sensitive skin and try to stay away from products that contain fragrance, but shampoo/conditioner was one area I hadn't yet broken away from fragrance. So, after using these products I do notice a difference in how my scalp feels. What I don't love: -I have to use slightly more shampoo than I do with regular shampoos. It appears to not lather quite as much as other shampoos, so I think this might be why a little more is required. Not that I have much of a problem with this; I believe it doesn't lather as much because it's free of sulfites and sulfates (or whatever the hippies want out of their shampoo, lol). I only mention this because it means you might run through the product a little quicker. Which brings me to my next con. -Price. I'd love for it to cost less, but considering there aren't a ton of decent options on the market for free and clear shampoo/conditioner that actually work well... I'll take it! Overall: If you're tired of using shampoos/conditioners with fragrance, if you suspect regular shampoos/conditioners might be irritating your scalp, or if you're merely searching for good shampoo and conditioner that cleans but also doesn't leave your hair feeling too dry, then give these a try! UPDATE: After using both the shampoo and conditioner for a few months now, I still really like the products. However, I dropped the rating down to 4 stars because it has been rather drying to my hair. I initially felt that I was getting more hydration from this product, but that isn't so. I don't fault the conditioner so much. Rather, I think the shampoo is a little too harsh, and the conditioner isn't able to fully compensate for that. I will say, though, that I am absolutely unable to go back to regular shampoos and conditioners. I tried just the other day, but there is waaaay to much fragrance dumped into them. I'll just have to try a few other fragrance free products to see how they hold up to this brand.

I have a severe allergy to coco-betaine, a substance found in soap suds. Before switching to Vanicream, I was constantly uncomfortable and itchy. After making the switch, my head is less itchy, and my hair is clean and pleasant. I believe many people are accustomed to using coco-betaine-based hair products, so the transition may seem drastic at first. However, if you are genuinely suffering from dermatitis or experiencing flare-ups due to a coco-betaine allergy, I highly recommend trying this product.

Scalp stopped itching and my hair has never been softer. I didn't think it would help as much as it did. I'm sensitive to smell and I'm trilled it has none.

I have extremely sensitive skin that reacts to nearly everything and sometimes to even nothing. I also have eczema, psoriasis, allergies and asthma. This makes anything with a scent very difficult to use. Per my dermatologist I have switched to everything unscented Vanicream. At first I only switched to their body washes, lotions/creams, facial cleanser, facial moisturizer, and sunscreen. The only product I still used with any scent was my shampoo and conditioner. The dermatologist told me I needed to switch to Vanicream unscented shampoo and conditioner as even the very light fragrances of my old hair products was aggravating my asthma. I'm so glad I made the switch. I naturally have dry skin and hair. This shampoo gets my hair very clean and the conditioner doesn't weigh heavy on my thin and fine hair. Sometimes when I'm in a hurry I will use shampoo and skip the conditioner which I know we aren't supposed to do anyway. I will say one day I skipped the conditioner after shampooing and my hair did feel a little extra dry. The next day I used the conditioner after shampooing and my hair felt less dry, manageable, and back to the level of dryness that it always is no matter what I use. I highly recommend this Vanicream shampoo and conditioner. It gets my hair very clean and the conditioner works well. I definitely can't skip the conditioner though. I will add that my cousin has very oily hair and she refuses to use conditioner. Her hair usually looks greasy by the end of the day at the roots and about three inches down after shampooing in the morning. She tried this in my shower and did not use the conditioner. Her hair looked perfectly clean and not greasy at all. She was able to skip two full days of washing her hair before she needed to wash it again so she was very pleased and got her own Vanicream shampoo which she is now using.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, after about a month it started to give me large flakes. I attribute this to the shampoo as I've used then separately and the conditioner does not give me this issue. So rating is now 3 stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have roseacea so I have quite a few sensitivities and allergies. I have thin, oily hair and I tried low end and high end shampoos. Some of them either irritated my scalp red, dried out my scalp too much, or just didn't do enough for my oily scalp, to give a few examples. I tried to focus on formulations that plumped up my hair and dealt with the thinness issue more than anything, but at the end of the day, I had to be extra careful because if I got some on my face, it had the potential to flare me up. I got tired of trying to cater towards the thinness issue of my hair and potentially making my rosacea worse that I finally settled on just the Free and Clear shampoo/conditioner. Does it plump your hair? No. Does it come in heavenly scents? No. Does it offer heat protection? No. But that's the point. It doesn't have any of those potential chemicals that can cause you issues. After trying the set, I can tell you that it did clean my hair and scalp well and literally got rid of my flakes and slight itchiness that a previous shampoo set was giving me after one wash. My scalp doesn't feel weird any more, it feels normal! I should've just buckled down and started using this set when I was diagnosed by my dermatologist, but I wanted voluptuous siren hair and for years I was trying all sorts of different formulations at the cost of my face and scalp. But I'm done. This set is it and this is pretty much the shampoo/conditioner I just need to stick with. It's not fancy, it's not exotic, but it's the brand that I should be using if I don't want to potentially flare up. Don't be stubborn like me. If you have allergies/sensitivities, I highly recommend this brand. It leaves my hair very clean with still enough moisture from the conditioner, removes my flakes and conditions my scalp enough, and I can have it run down my face accidentally without worrying about redness/bumps on my face/scalp afterwards.

So far I am loving these. I needed something gentle for my hair as I ended up with a case of postpartum seborrheic dermatitis. I am using these in conjunction with a medicated shampoo that treats the yeast component of the issue and both are helping my skin barrier restore itself so I can put this episode behind me. All in all my hair feels softer and less dry or stripped after I use them. I will continue to use this duo indefinitely as hair feels healthier without all of the harsh chemicals in standard shampoos. Would recommend.
