Engaging whilst delivering important social messages
This series is brilliant at enforcing behaviour messages to EYFS students. The stories are engaging whilst also reiterating the core message, little ones don't really realise they are being taught a lesson in the process.

Life lessons for little’uns
Bought this and read this for my 3 year old granddaughter - partly because she gets frustrated and impatient at times (don’t we all). It’s become a firm favourite - I ended up reading it to her 4 times the first weekend. She loves the book. Whether the lessons in patience have rubbed off - I’ll have to check with her mother! Also bought Hippo Owns Up - and Monkey Needs to Listen - same reason - same response - probably end up buying the series. Recommended for the stories alone - lessons in patience etc related in fun, kind non judgemental manner. Great series!

Helps children understand, express and identify, their emotions
I bought this book for my 22 month old to aid him in understanding, expressing and identifying his emotions. We read it together and then talk about how the Gecko was getting so so upset about the situations he was in and how he works to be less frustrated by the things around him. Now this has helped my little one (disclosure: may not work for every child) when he gets really upset I say to him about the Gecko and that he should try the same methods to feel better and half the time it works. However I am lucky as mine is an only child and doesn’t tantrum all the time (Yet). The book is beautifully illustrated and has a very clear message. I have other books from the same series and find that my boy really enjoys them. Well worth a go if your trying to help your child identify their feelings and work through them. (Also has a couple of pages at the back of the book which tells parents how to discuss feelings and emotions with their child)
