I love coffee. As a coffee lover (but not a connoisseur, mind you), I have tried coffee from all over the world, thanks to Amazon. I am actually a product tester for some coffee distributors on Amazon. I DID NOT receive a sample of this coffee in exchange for a review. Instead, my little brother called me and told me I absolutely had to try this brand of coffee. I was skeptical, as I usually am regarding "greatest coffee I ever tasted" claims. But, he is my brother, so I figured I would humor him and give this stuff a shot. I am really glad I did! He told me it would provide me that much loved caffeine kick, and was he ever right! I have looked all over for the type of coffee bean Yaucono uses, but I cannot find it. I suspect it is some type of Arabica bean, but I can't be certain. Anyway, regardless of the bean type, this stuff has one heck of a kick! But, unlike some coffees with a lot of caffeine, it was not acidic. My stomach is rather sensitive, so I was afraid this would give me trouble. Alas, it did not. It is exceptionally smooth and just made for a great cup of coffee.I use a Jura Capresso superautomatica machine to brew my coffee. It is one of those machines that grinds the beans and brews the coffee in one action after you push a button. It allowed me to try this coffee in a variety of coffee drinks. First, just a plain cup of black coffee was delicious. Like I said above, it is just super smooth and rich tasting. I also tried it as an espresso shot, which was very tasty. I think I liked that the most for a quick morning wake up. I also made a couple of lattes with it, which was really good. If you do not like black coffee, a latte with frothed half and half is absolutely amazing with this blend. Finally, I added some shots of hazelnut coffee syrup to the latte and it paired very well. All in all, I am thrilled my little brother called me about this coffee. I have never visited Puerto Rico, but if they drink this kind of coffee all the time, I have really missed out! Although I get a lot of coffee super cheap, I will not hesitate to pay full price for this coffee and always have it on hand. No regrets here!

Wow! - I never thought my wife would ever _PREFER_ drinking her coffee (the only way good coffee should be drunk) BLACK! For the last week she has requested her coffee straight!I, a true-believer in 100% Kona coffee, never thought I'd would find _any coffee_ that could compete with the coffee I enjoyed on the big island several years ago - including Jamaica Blue Mountain. Cafe Yaucono Original Coffee Beans have rich flavor and an unbelievable low acid content - It must be tasted to be believed.I wish to thank our good friend, Armando L. Cruz-Rodz (an ordained Deacon - among other things), who was born and raised in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico - I took his word one Sunday morning that nothing compares to the coffee grown in his neck of the woods. He is true to his word, and will be receiving a bag of "Café de Puta Madre Whole Bean", the coffee grown in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, as a "thank you for sharing" gift - and not just the coffee.PS. Google "Café de Puta Madre Whole Bean" - At ~$71.11 for two pounds, this is a bargain! I'm not sure how much better Café de Puta Madre Whole Bean is from Cafe Yaucono Original Coffee Whole Bean - But I'm am sure to try it out - soon!Fortes* Great taste* Good buy* Very Low Acid* Started something that Kona couldn't (i.e. my wife drinking black coffee)Foibles* None25 April 2016 UPDATE:My wife and I have nearly consumed our Café de Puta Madre Whole Bean purchase. While the Café de Puta Madre Whole Bean may have a slight edge regading taste and smoothness, at $13.99 per pound versus $35.56 per pound, there is no contest.06 September 2019 UPDATE: 18 bags latter and nothing has changed - Tastes just as good as the first time I purchased this coffee!STILL HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Good budget coffee, but not gourmet!
Suprised to see so many reviews with high rating, I gave this coffee a try. Good, not great! It is overrated. It failed my strict bar to consider a coffee as a gourmet coffee. It didn't have any fine intersting notes. It was not oily in appearance. More importantly, I would not drink as a black coffee (without adding milk) as it had a little sour flvaor when concentated (4-6 table spoones per 8 oz), unlike some finer but more expensive coffee (e.g. Britt). On the other hand, it is not bad and there is more of it at the same price per ounce. So I would give it 4 stars. It is a good backup option that is less likely to run out compared to finer coffee purchased in smaller batches.
