A great addition to our home library
I purchased this book off of a recommendation from Steve Lawson and have found this book to be a lovely addition to our home library of sound Biblical teaching. This was an easy and beautiful read of the truth. It was easy to digest and apply. It humbled me and I will read this book again and again. With the many books available today, that are leaning more worldly, I have been reading the writings of those saints from the past. We should contend earnestly for this faith that is shown in this book, and many other books from long ago.The world is quickly perishing, and I dare not want my ears tickled by those with hidden agendas that are tampering with the Gospel, inserting human wisdom, traditions, and teachings from men. It’s quite sad that our public libraries have plenty of false prophet books, Olsteen, Beth Moore, Sadie Robertson, Kenneth Copeland, Lysa Terkeurst, etc …yet you cannot find ONE book within the entire state that I live in that is Biblically correct. I sadly believe this is done on purpose and should be a red flag for many as to the censorship in the West.I also recommend Michelle Lesley’s website. She has a nice list of false teachings. Fact check everything so you are not misled.

The Beauty of Holiness Immortalized by an Obscure Man
We are told in the forward of "a Body of Divinity", that very little personal information is known about this pastor; but I have a feeling in heaven he is highly exalted..No wonder hundred of years later, his book is still taught in the seminary's today that desire to train upcoming pastors and elders in the evangelical historical Christian faith. There is a great chasm between "Knowing" and "Believing" a scriptural truth. Though I am no scholar, I believe Thomas Watson's exposition of the Westminster Shorter Catechism is sheer poetry that truthfully and with explicit love "explores" the deep things of God.It allows us mere mortals to transcend from the "knowing" of scripture to experiencing the intimate pleasure of "discovering in scripture", the God who first loved us.Get this book, a Body of Divinity, in hardbound and on Kindle - it is a treasure you will read for a lifetime...

wow, absolutely wow
I am not very good at reading theology books but this book is so so captivating. I love it because I know that Thomas Watson had deep affection for the Lord and I see it in the way he writes. I am on my fifth or sixth time reading it this year. It’s so hard to put down and yet every paragraph is packed with glory.

Wonderful Book
I have found this book to be .... amazing. I've been reading a little bit out of it every night before bed. I can't tell you how many times that I've sat straight up in bed to re-read a paragraph that illuminated a previously tough piece of doctrine with such clarity and simplicity that my heart rejoiced with pleasure and my mind with understanding. I highly recommend it!"Thomas Watson's Body of Practical Divinity is one of the most precious of the peerless works of the Puritans; and those best acquainted with it prize it most."~Charles Spurgeon

Poetic Prose
Helpful lessons on the Westminster Standards, preached/taught shortly after they were first published. Watson is certainly one of the most easy to read of the Puritans.

Amazing book!
Amazing book. Super in depth on many topics. I have learned a lot from this book that wasn't taught to me in Bible college. Because of the time it was written in it can be a more difficult read, however, if you can take the time to read through it it'll be well worth it

An outstanding resource for every believer!!
What an outstanding book from a Puritan! Honestly, you never get such a resources from modern scolars. This should be in the front row of every library and at every pastors desk. Sound theology, heart-touching admonitions, loving appeals even as Watson expounds the catachism. The language is quite simple for anyone to grasp, unlike other puritans ... Get a copy ... You will not be disappointed.

not just a great read.
I first purchased a copy of this book many years ago and found it then to be a very helpful reference book. Whilst Watson in his day (along with everyone else at the time) thought that the world was flat, his understanding of God and Biblical principles was unsurpassed. Having lost my original copy, I must have loaned it to someone who found it to be of great value, I've recently purchased a replacement copy, not to just sit on the book shelf, but to be used regularly in sermon writing.
