Nexus SM-7000B Silent Mouse

I bought this mouse for the simple reason of getting rid of that annoying clicking sound. My wife likes to play games, especially these time management games that require constant clicking to complete tasks. When our PC is right beside our bed this can be extremely frustrating. I was totally skeptical about this mouse til I finally got it in hand. It truly is silent!! There is a very slight audible noise confirming the click but its not noticeable. I click links on the web more than once b/c I don't think I've clicked anything. It takes a little getting used to. The overall feel is nice and smooth. I am overall very satisfied. The only complaint I have it either in the wireless connection or the tracking. Every once in a while it kinds looses its place or gets a little jerky. I have numerous wireless devices in the room so it could just be interference. Who knows but this mouse has saved me a headache. I looked for a silent keyboard and ordered the basic Logitech K120 b/c it is listed as a low profile silent keyboard which it is not. It's a little quieter than others but nothing compared to the mouse. ***UPDATE*** The "interference" issue I had has gotten to be just too annoying. I dont know if it is just that, interference, or if its the tracking or a combo of all things, but its just too inconsistent to use full time. Left mouse clicks take 2 or 3 presses to activate. Just not for me in my setting. Everything else I said remains true. In a more open less clogged room this mouse would probably operate be. For the posistive, I am returning this and I found the same brand Nexus 8500 that is corded on another site for about the same price. So I really like Nexus and the make and feel of the mouse just for me in my setting, not working correctly.

Not silent in the strictest sense but almost. You won't hear the click unless you put your ears next to it or intentionally try to discern the sound. Well worth every penny since the absence of the click makes working in a quiet setting easy. At night you won't annoy significant others with constant clicking. The wireless connection is perfect and doesn't lag or disconnect randomly. Plug it into any windows 7 PC and it works without installing any bulky software or inserting any CD. At work is when this really shines!! My Boss constantly wants me to think outside the box. Ironic since I work in a cube/cubicle. After my first year, I realized that I could tell when my Boss was in our area and even track his movements with pinpoint accuracy. How? MOUSECLICKS!!! As he approached the cubicles, employees would hear him coming and frantically click away closing facebook etc windows and popping up spreadsheets, reports etc. It was really obvious to the Boss who was closing windows when he approached. With my silent mouse, I just listen for the Clicks/mouse alarms going off around me and calmly close all those non-work windows. By the time he's anywhere near my cubicle,I can close a million windows and he won't hear a single mouseclick. Since he didn't hear any clicking as he approached, he assumes whatever is on the screen(spreadsheets and reports) is exactly what I've been looking at all along. After doing this enough times, he rarely if ever swings by my cube since he doesnt expect to catch me NOT working. He genuinely believes I'm all work and no play :-). Get this Mouse!!

01/04/2012:Update for this mouse. I used this mouse for about 3 months now and it starts lagging. Not a mouse you can use for long term. 10/01/2011:It's a very quiet mouse without any clicking sound, but the middle scroll button is very loose. Sometimes you use the scroll button to review an article or click it to open a tab, but I feel like I am going to break it every time I click it and the button is not very sensitive either. Overall, it's a nice quiet mouse that meets my needs, but it's definitely not a very good quality mouse for the price I paid.

I am Mr Techi, I love gadgets & buy the best of everything. This mouse is used by me in medical school. I am the only one using a mouse and my classroom is silent during lecture. You can not hear the clicks. If you hold it on your chest you can hear a contact click of 5% - 10%. It is as silent as needed. My table mate cannot hear the clicks. It is silent in this setting. It does feel cheap & or fragile. However, it is very comfortable. I have owned many mice & currently have 5 others, and this is the most ergonomic & comfortable I have owned. Astetically it is very nice. It also has a DPI button for quick change & to activate it from hibernation mode. I have dropped it hard twice with out complication. I was suprised due to its fragile feel. I will buy another even if this one stopped working a week after I bought it. I like it that much. It is very smooth flowing. I have read other critiques that say it is loud. It is only loud if you smack it with your finger! With standard and fast repetition it is unheard by others. I have no idea what other reviewers would be referenccing for their claims of noise. I have no affiliation to the company & hope they will make a wireless keyboard someday. JB

Its completely silent. Even the scroll wheel and the scroll click. It takes 2AA batteries and the outer 1 is very hard to get in. The mouse actually functions on just 1 AA battery but is very unpredictable and looses connection. I went ahead and got 2 AA energizer rechargeable lithium batteries for it(since there very light). My Usb sensor is very close to the mouse like 1 foot and I haven't had any problems. I also have a 2nd gaming mouse plugged into the same usb hub. This usb hub has an external wall power adapter so it doesnt overload the computer usb ports. So during the day I use my gaming mouse. At night I can click away without disturbing sensitive/irritated sleepers :D Im using windows 7 64-bit. With a 10-port usb hub that has external power. With 2 energizer lithium rechargeable batteries. If your having problems with the mouse then return it to a bestbuy and make some profit.... Maybe you have your usb sensor is too far away or you are using crappy batteries?

It does make a light clicking sound... I have used other products that actually produce no sound at all. That is my reason for a bad review. This mouse is less noisy than most other devices but it still makes noise. It says "no noise" on the package and that is simply a false advertisement. The sounds produced are similar to the Microsoft 4000, very light and not controlled by different finger actions. Depending on the application you may find this device unacceptable. If you are using it in the family room with a TV on, you may find this will not disturb others around you. If you are using this device to not wake the person beside you in a quiet setting, this most likely won't get the job done at all. No stealth web-surfing for those with bad sleep habits. I have not found the pointing problems others have posted about, with one week of use. The device goes to sleep automatically and needs to be pressed once to wake. That takes getting use to but I have no problem with that. I'm sure it's a battery saver feature though I've never owned a mouse that does that. I found a wired device from a Chinese retailer a few years back that actually is fully silent; if I find that device again I'll add that to this review. It should be noted the Nexus SM 7000B comes from China as well.

So, some people would say it isn't perfectly quiet. But is that even possible? I mean the sheer act of pressing a momentary switch will on all occasions produce some kind of sound even at very low decibel levels. But unless you have bionic ears this mouse is as silent as they get, as silent as there ever has been, and probably about as silent as you'll ever need. No more annoying clicking, which never bothered me but drove my wife insane. The mouse doesn't have an on-off switch, relying instead on measured inactive period to shut itself off; the mouse is easily turned back on with a simple click of the mouse--wait, can you really call it a click if you're using a silent mouse? The DPI button at the top is intended to allow you to effortlessly increase/decrease the track speed of the mouse without having to adjust the mouse settings within your operating system. It's a fantastic idea but the DPI range is too short to see any appreciable difference between high track speed and low track speed settings. It's a slight drawback but not something that would negate the overall purpose of this mouse--silence.

Pros: No annoying clicks!!!! I'm actually pretty amazed at how silent it is. The material is extremely comfortable as well. I'm modifying my original review after a few days of use, and adding the Cons. I've also dropped it down 2 stars actually because of 2 issues that are critical to me. Cons: 1) The middle-click scroll wheel is nearly impossible to use. Any time I try to mid-click a link on a page, I have to press it so hard that it slips and I miss the link. I use mid-click a ton for opening new links without leaving the page. Not sure what their thought was with making it so freaking tight. 2) As others have said here, it has serious communication issues with the usb receiver. It happens quite a bit actually. It loses it's communication and drags/lags around the screen, and does not respond to my actions for a few seconds. Summary, this would would be the perfect mouse if it wasn't for two simple issues that are routine for even the cheapest mouse around.
