The New Traditional

Inspirational design
If you are interested in home design or decoration inspiration along the classic transitional line, this book is for you. The style demonstrated is classic but modern, timeless, matching the vibe of the location (eg. Colorado, Long Island, etc.) Similar to Ray Booth's style but still different.

Drab Colors
There are some lovely rooms shown in the book but the colors are so washed out.

Not really waterproof
If you can’t submerge in water, how can it be waterproof. Very misleading , unfair and dishonest

Beautifully Curated
I don’t usually write reviews for many things unless I am totally intrigued or totally disappointed. I am happy to say that this book is intriguing! I’ve been a long time follower of Barclay Butera designs and furnishings. His style is clean and classic, which I love. While he does have an elevated design aesthetic, it is also warm and relatable in that you can incorporate many of his ideas into your own space. The imagery is beautiful with many inspiring features, and the environments range from traditional to transitional to modern to coastal. The book feeds to many different palettes, which I can appreciate as you can learn something from each home even if it is not your personal taste. There is not a lot of super flashy imagery because IYKYK that is not Mr. Butera’s brand or voice. It is refined and discerning with a dash of whimsy. Get the book if you are looking to see beautifully curated spaces and ideas that you can adapt to your own.

A bit neutral in colour, but underpinned by brilliance!
This is a wonderful presentation of architecture/design that, at first, is neutral in colour but really delivers as you take a longer look. Very pleased.
