It's a little circle on the screen protector that allows you to store and use your finger print as a security measure to unlock your phone.

Does this case have a raised lip on top to protect the screen?

Greetings Mary, Yes the top and bottom of the case are raised to protect the screen. I've dropped this phone a few times in this case and the phone is still together with no damages. The only thing that I see breaking on this case with the wrong drop is the kick stand. Yet, the phone is protected.

How can i remove the finger print reader goop but keep the screen protector intact because the finger print detector interfers with the pen?
